Had a wonderful high tea experience with excellent service by Nikki. Truly enjoyed our time here, everything was perfect!

I am writing to give your team some amazing feedback in relation to our journey with The Refectory. From the first moment we met Stacey our venue coordinator, and saw your beautiful venue, we knew this was exactly where we wanted to have our wedding. It’s not lost on us how many weddings your team manage and we were so blown away with Stacey and her professionalism. Stacey was incredibly organised and put us at ease knowing that our day would run so smoothly. It made it easy to put our full trust in your team for the day knowing that anything that didn’t go to plan would be sorted and it wouldn’t ruin our day. The day of the wedding was absolute perfection. Not one thing went wrong and when there was a minor hiccup with our flowers at the ceremony location, Stacey jumped right into action fixing the situation and keeping everyone calm. Cocktail hour and the reception was unbelievable. Our guests commented on how delicious the food and the wine was and they loved the gelato cart. Your staff were so incredibly accommodating and friendly and we couldn’t thank them enough for all of their work during the night. We couldn’t recommend The Refectory enough.

What a lovely horrible experience of a high tea. Highly do not recommend. We were delighted to sit beside a table unattended full of dishes whilst served less than half cups of coffee with froth. Don't expect free parking close to the venue as outlined in their description. Do expect to wait over 1 hour after seating for food that you will later be informed, they are unsure if it meets your allergy requests. Allergies that were communicated clearly prior to booking, again on seating and again on arrival of food. Don't worry though they will offer compensation for their poor service. It just will not be provided and they will tell you they are now closed and to now email the manager for it. 2 weeks later and we have received no refund. Despite 3 of our parties being provided with allergens we have now been offered a complimentary high tea which we can get to enjoy this horrible experience again.

The Refectory absolutely blew us away. Our wedding was pure magic. 130 guests and not a single person stopped talking about the food it was next level. But what really made it unforgettable was the team. Every single staff member was incredible, and Stacey… you are a superstar. The calm, the organisation, the way you made us feel supported and seen the entire day you honestly made the whole experience feel effortless. She is an absolute angel. I didn’t worry once. Our whole day ran beautifully because of them. I still get emotional thinking about it. It was the most perfect, special day better than anything we could have dreamed. If you’re thinking about booking The Refectory, do it. It will be the best decision you make.

We reserved a table for lunch today and arrived to find a lovely table with umbrella ready for us. The staff were very friendly but be willing to take some time as our food arrived 45 mins after ordering. Hubby ordered the fish and loved it. We had the Cornish pastie. Best, light, melt in your mouth pastry I have tasted. The filling was tasty and the salad was fresh. We both agreed it was the best we have ever eaten and would definitely order it again. A walk around the grounds and roses afterwards finished a perfect day.

Was looking forward to having lunch here during our day at Werribee Mansion. Placed our order for a coffee and a grazing plate and asked for some water and glasses. We were advised that they would bring it all out to us. We went outside and sat under the umbrella enjoying the garden. After 20 minutes they brought the coffee out. We saw a table that had ordered after us receive their food and overhead a waitress telling another table behind us that firstly there was a problem with a meal they were waiting on but they were sorting it and then they come back to tell them 10 minutes later they’d actually ran out of the item they’d ordered! After 40 minutes we still hadn’t received our water and food, so I went in to enquire where it was. I was told it was nearly ready and it takes a while to put together, I asked if I could just take the water and a woman behind the counter clicked her fingers, and pointed one of the young staff to get a bottle from out the back and told me she’d bring it out to us. The water and grazing plate came out 5 minutes after that. The grazing plate was tasty and plentiful, it was just such a shame that the service was incredibly slow.

We had our wedding at The Refectory in 2022, after initially booking for 2020. The team were really lovely and incredible helpful with all of the rescheduling and honouring our original contract through all of that mess, which we were so grateful for, and the day turned out absolutely beautiful. We did go through quite a few different coordinators over that time, which led to a bit of repeating details, but that's to be expected over such a long, weird time frame. We were originally going to have the ceremony outside on the lawn, but due to wet weather in the lead up it was too muddy, and they were very accomodating and organised the day beforehand for the ceremony to be held inside and then have the space set up for the reception while the guests were outside under the heaters for the cocktail hour. It worked perfectly and made for a comfy environment for everyone. The food was incredible and our guests are still raving about how good it was. We opted for a cocktail/roving food service but still had tables and chairs for guests, and they all said that they got more than enough to eat and drink. They set up a little room upstairs for the wedding party to relax and have some food and drinks between the cocktail hour photo shoot and the reception, which meant that we were able to eat and relax before getting caught up socialising and celebrating with everyone else throughout the reception. That was such a nice little breather amongst such a hectic day, it was something that we'd thought would be good for practicality but ended up being quite an emotional bonding moment with the wedding party. The staff were lovely when they were communicating with our guests, were aware of and helpful with dietary requirements. It did involve a lot of detailed planning on my part in the lead up, in terms of sorting timelines, getting info for outside vendors, and double checking exactly what was included and figuring out which extras we wanted to add, but I enjoyed the wedding planning process and happily took a very active role in it. The Refectory is an absolutely stunning venue, and with the package that lets you get photos inside the Mansion, you'll get some absolutely stunning wedding photos with a sense of grandeur that's hard to find elsewhere.
