This place is a piece of Australian literary history - Picnic at Hanging Rock was created here. A big thank you to the volunteer guides for an informative tour.

It is like a living memorial....just like the day the occupants left. A snap look back in time. Our visit was enhanced by our very informative, friendly guide. Booking necessary for a house tour. Well worth it.

A grand house with equally notable owners. Informative guided tour every 30ish minutes (allow an hour). The artwork collection was the hero of our visit. The house is needing a bit of TLC. Gardens show visible care. Easy parking ... worth a stop if you appreciate living museums.

Delightful house and gardens; the former home of the artist Sir Daryl Lindsay and author Joan Lindsay. The volunteer guides gave a lively and interesting background to their lives and work in this house.

Everything begins and ends at exactly the right time and place," and with that we were lucky to catch the last 3pm tour of the day with Linda at Mulberry Hill, the country home of Joan Lindsay author of Picnic at Hanging Rock . American Colonial style, built in 1926. A living museum and 80s time capsule preserved by the National Trust. The Lindsays lived here briefly in the 20s and then 50s-70s/80s, and had no children. . It's an interesting house, there was a display of three generations of valentines days cards on display, hello card making! We need to bring that back. . The artist studio at the front of the house was a highlight, left as if he would return soon, all that was missing was a cat and cup of tea. . Lighting was kinda weird, lack of chandeliers, a scary fluorescent light in the second bathroom where Joan wrote her iconic gothic novel within a month. The guide said the electricity doesn't always work, and it's very dark in winter afternoons. Is that normal for the 80s? . A beautiful home. Great but not grand. Wonderful that things and personal items have been left as they were. Some wonderful art works on display. It deserves more attention as the home of two notable Australians. A talented artist and renowned author of picnic at hanging rock.

We enjoyed a very informative guided tour. Beautiful old home with an interesting history. Volunteer staff very friendly and welcoming. A pleasantly relaxing way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
