Pho Home
Pho Home in Port Macquarie offers a varied menu with standout dishes like their flavorful pho and rich laksa. Known for their deceptively large portions and high-standard rice paper rolls, this caterer provides an authentic experience with some room for improvement in ingredient freshness and authentic flavors, specifically with dishes like banh mi.
The service at Pho Home can be somewhat inconsistent, with occasional lapses in politeness. The environment is pleasant and the pricing is comparable to other local Vietnamese eateries. Despite minor drawbacks, Pho Home delivers a satisfying experience, particularly notable for their beef pho and unique off-menu items. The overall experience suggests a need for refinement in certain dishes and service details to fully meet expectations.

This was honestly one of the worst banh mi experiences I’ve ever had. I ordered a pork banh mi for takeaway, and the meat was absolutely unacceptable. It tasted like it had been left out for a full day or more — completely dried out, tough, and almost inedible. The pork was so dry and leathery that I could barely chew it. There is no way this was fresh, and serving meat in this condition is simply not okay. It felt careless and extremely disappointing. I expected a proper, fresh banh mi — not something made with old, dried-up meat. After this experience, I won’t be returning. If this is the quality being served, the kitchen seriously needs to rethink its food handling and standards.
Fabulously good Pho. Would be very happy if I got this in marrickville! The stock was full of flavour. We ordered laksa (not normally a viet dish but they did a good job with the stock) and the rice paper roll which were v good too. They were out of prawn , but bbq chicken filling was tasty.
This bbq chicken laksa was amazing-rich and flavourful. A must-visit if you're craving laksa or pho!
The best rice paper rolls we have ever eaten! There are 3 in a serving and a perfect size for a shared entree or a main for one person. The prawn and pork (with crackling) are outstanding! The Pho is also of a very high standard; full of the usual goodies and flavour. $23 for a Pho seems steep, but this is the price point at all places selling Pho is Port Macquarie. Whilst not on the menu the roast port bai buns are spectacular. The portion size of the Pho is deceptively large. Recommended!
The food was okay but could use some improvement. The pork and spring rolls were cold and seemed like they’d been sitting in the bain marie for a while. The pork itself had a nice crunch and could’ve been great if it was served hot. The noodle salad bowl sauce tasted more like plain soy sauce rather than the usual Vietnamese blend of fish sauce, lime, garlic, and chilli. The prawns also didn’t taste very fresh. We ordered drinks from the bubble tea section as well, but the Thai milk tea unfortunately had very little flavour , it mostly tasted like milk, which was disappointing for the price.($11) Overall, I think this place has potential, but it would really benefit from fresher ingredients, hotter dishes, and a bit more attention to authentic flavours and presentation.
After a 4-hour drive from the Gold Coast, we arrived at Port Macquarie for a stopover. A steaming bowl of beef Pho warmed both my stomach and heart for the night. The food at Pho Home truly gives a sense of home.
Yesterday I ordered chicken pho and politely asked if it could be made with chicken broth instead of beef (like many other Vietnamese places in Sydney suburbs). The young white teenage server turned to the Asian owner and said, "I need your translation please," even though we were all speaking English. Owner then told me they can’t change the broth. Felt unnecessary and a bit rude — a little more manners would’ve helped. That said, my parents said the pho itself was good.
