Wollongong Golf Club

📍 Wedding venues in Wollongong

6.9

The Wollongong Golf Club offers a scenic setting with views of the golf course and ocean, making it an attractive venue for various events. The club is known for its friendly staff and reasonably priced meals, although some dishes may be overly spiced. The modern clubhouse features a casual dress code and a lively atmosphere, complemented by a Best Western hotel upstairs for extended stays.

The golf course, while visually appealing, can be windy and crowded, leading to slower play. Some visitors have noted issues with service and food quality, particularly with certain dishes being too spicy or poorly prepared. Despite these drawbacks, the club remains a popular choice for its community support and convenient location near the city center.

My family and I have attended the Club for Birthday lunches over a number of years. We recently went again and received friendly, professional service from the staff. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. Great view, great course, great club. I highly recommend this Club.

Great venue. Sadly the food had far more chilli added than anyone expected. Even though we love spicy food, it was too hot for us to finish our meal...

(Didn’t stay the night so didn’t include a room rank) So there are a lot of great things about this place. The views are wonderful - and a lot of the decor is pleasant. The staff are friendly and attentive. There are big TVs everywhere so it’s not a good place for neurodiverse people - we asked for a massive TV that was in my Dad’s eyeline to be turned off and were told they couldn’t because it includes advertising. The duck curry was so over spiced it took me twice the time as everyone else to eat it and one of our pork belly meals was so poor we would have sent it back except we felt bad for the staff. The down lighting is so intense especially during daytime that it’s just exhausting to be in the room (again maybe that’s just for people who are more photo sensitive).

Golf course is nice to look at but very windy, and very slow play.. felt overbooked.. rather not get a tee time then have to wait around to tee off.. I cancled my second booking as I didnt enjoy the course at all, and i received club credit as apposed to a refund.. feels like a tourist trap, people book in while on holidays and then never get to use the credit if they need to cancle for some reason.. I asked if I could use the club credit in the pro shop rather than rebooking and received no response.. Wouldn't reccomend this place at all. Played port kembla while I was down here and the course was much less crowded, less windy and the players were kind enough to wave me through when I caught up to them.. (as apposed to the group of 3 elderly women who were walking infront of me at Wollongong..) (-Solo player with a cart..) Would highly reccomend the 15 minute drive to Port kembla rather than playing at Wollongong.. Wollongong looks nice but looks can be deceiving..

Nice location but that’s it! Food served in takeaway boxes with cardboard cutlery. Hard to cut through schnitzel. No gravy available! Flat lemonade and playground locked so kids can’t play!

Great location looking over the golf course to the ocean, especially at sunset. Reasonably good standard Westernized meals at somewhat inflated prices (maybe everywhere is inflated in my eyes!). Sometimes has a very well patronized buffet. Visited originally because it supports community groups, Toastmasters Wednesdays with a meeting venue, & they support it by bringing people in outside golfing hours. Good golfing facilities. Hotel above is well regarded, (not unique) by those I've spoken to that have stayed (I have people stay across the city). Scenic and very convenient walking distance to the city centre.
