Wharf Events

Went to Melbourne Cup hosted by Wharf Events and the management of this event was disgraceful. For an event that offers a drink package for 3 hours, having to wait for 50 minutes to receive our 2nd drink was ridiculous. The staff were struggling as people were getting more frustrated with the wait. The cheese platter at the beginning was beautiful but after that the food was disappointing, and for some reason they spent most of the event circling the same 3 canapes, salmon tart that was stale, flavourless bruschetta and dry arancini balls. My aunt was gluten free and given a wristband and advised staff would find her. This never happened. The prawn salad with no dressing was terrible, and the only thing edible was the curry, and it was at the end of when we were already planning to leave. The only positives were the space was beautiful, the Caricaturist Wayne Fleming drawing portraits, who was fun and amazing. The photo booth that was also fun.

This place truly deserves a 5-star shoutout for its events. From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere is vibrant, welcoming, and beautifully set against the waterfront. The events are exceptionally well-organized, with great attention to detail, seamless coordination, and a fantastic mix of entertainment, food, and ambiance. The location alone is a standout—stunning views, relaxed coastal energy, and an environment that makes every event feel special. The staff are friendly, professional, and clearly passionate about creating memorable experiences, which shows in how smoothly everything runs. Whether you’re attending a community event, live music, or a special celebration, The Wharf delivers consistently high-quality experiences. It’s a must-visit destination in Mooloolaba and a credit to the local events scene. Highly recommend!

We recently hosted our corporate year-end celebration at The Wharf Events and couldn’t be more delighted with how the evening unfolded. From start to finish it was absolutely first-class. The flexibility of the space was perfect for our mix of seated awards, standing networking and later the cocktail lounge vibe. The events team were outstanding: highly professional, attentive without being intrusive, and proactively took care of every detail (from AV cues to guest dietary needs to smooth transitions between seated dinner and drinks). The catering exceeded expectations — beautifully presented, with the beverage packages executed seamlessly so our guests never missed a moment. What really stood out was how effortless the whole event felt. Despite the complexity of catering, award-ceremony format, mingling portions and later entertainment, everything flowed effortlessly. We were able to stay present, focus on our guests, and enjoy the experience — rather than getting bogged down in organisational details. In short: if you’re looking for a premium venue on the Sunshine Coast, Wharf Events is a standout. Thank you again to the team for making our event so memorable.

Attended a Melbourne Cup day event hosted by the wharf. We had a group of six and were very excited for the day. However our excitement soon turned to frustration. Arriving on time we were kept waiting in a line due to "technical" issues. Inside was beautifully decorated and had 2 tables of cheeses, salami’s dips etc. but these were demolished within 15 minutes as there were well over 100 guests. We had to queue for 40 minutes to wait for a drink initially. I spoke to one of the hosts and asked why only Aperol spritz were being passed around and no other drinks to which she replied we have a sponsorship with Aperol and we have to serve a certain number of drinks first. So anybody who didn’t like a spritzer had to wait. There was a barman totally frazzled as he was making cocktails which were taking up a lot of time. The tiny canapés were "okay" but there were only a few. This could’ve been managed so much better. It all felt really amateur. If offering a drinks package for 3 hours with food you need to include the food! People were hungry, and coupled with drinking, it’s not a great combo. After the three hours we were all hastily ushered out The only positive in the whole experience was the staff were very nice & doing their best to keep people happy. I would not recommend for a Melb Cup type function.

Where do we begin? We chanced upon Wharf Events while frantically looking for a reception venue for our wedding reception and they did not disappoint! The team kept regular communication with us to discuss all our options and went above and beyond to help us decorate and ensure we had all we needed for the reception. All our guests raved about the food (and we can personally attest that they weren't just saying that for our sakes - it was delicious!), and the staff worked in seamlessly with us when our timeline and schedule ran behind, still providing each course at the perfect time. The venue is beautiful and it was the perfect environment and backdrop for our wedding reception. Wharf Events really exceeded our expectations and we are so grateful, particularly to Katie and Sam who both made it such a pleasant experience from start to finish!

I hosted a seminar here a few weeks ago, and I was blown away by the venue itself. The entire booking process was so simple, affordable, the space is GORG and the staff were so helpful - thanks so much for having us!

Attended a work event here recently , fantastic location very handy to rest of Mooloolaba and our accomodation. Service immpecable and staff treated everyone VIP !
