The Tasman, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Hobart

This was a wonderful hotel and I was actually surprised at how large, diverse and special it is. The room was quite nice with an incredibly beautiful view. Well appointed and perfect with only the except of neither I nor the staff able to get the coffee maker to work! The gym was super nice, and both Peppino and Mary Mary were top rated dining and drinking experiences. Super kind staff and well located. Would definitely stay here again.

Booked in for one night and upon arrival at 3 pm we were informed that the previous guests will only check out around 4 pm and the room would not be ready until after 5. The only thing that they originally offered was free parking and a voucher for 2 free drinks. I was ropable and I was so angry that I fumed out of the hotel. My husband, who needs an afternoon nap due to medical issues, agreed to a lesser room. He got up to the room which was next to the elevator and the maids closet and, even he wasn’t happy. We didn’t get into the room we had booked until 5:15 and from there, things did improve. Perhaps it was the complementary bottle of wine which they brought up. We had a tasty drinks at Mary Mary’s followed by a lovely dinner at Peppinas. In the middle of the night I woke up and realized that the reason the room wasn’t ready was BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF STAFF. I mean, come on…. If you know you have guests arriving at 3 pm, why the hell would you allow a 4 pm check out. SO NOW WE ARE ANGRY BECAUSE THEY LIED TO US.

1 star only. Booked our 50th Wedding Anniversary on 12th December 2025 for our stay on the 28th January 2026. Booked the Panoramic River View plus breakfast for 2, $816.00. Arrived to Valet Park our car. Paid for said room. Then told guests staying requested a late checkout until4pm and that they were members. Certainly not happy at this point. Informed we were "upgraded" to Heritage Suite, lovely room but NOT what I'd booked. We were very disappointed the way it was handled. Have since sent off an email to Head Office. A suitable outcome has not been reached. We certainly wouldn't recommend The Tasman as a place to stay. As we live in Hobart we wouldn't recommend any friends or family to stay either. Very disappointed. Must say though Peppina Restaurant was absolutely amazing. The highlight of our 50th Wedding Anniversary.

I brought my fiancé here for a little visit to see the MONA. Unfortunately the MONA was closed the entire time we were here but the hotel kept our spirits up. Beautiful rooms, wonderful food and beverage options, engaging wall art, and crisp sheets. All the little touches were delightful, the gym was well equipped, and we felt very special. The only thing missing is a pool or water feature.

Stayed: 17–19 December 2025 | Panoramic Water View King Room We stayed at The Tasman Hotel for two nights before Christmas and had a very pleasant experience overall. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived, which really set the tone for our stay. Our Panoramic Water View King Room was very clean, tidy, and well maintained. The room size was reasonable, the bed was very comfortable, and the water view was lovely and relaxing. One small thing to note is that some distant buildings do have a direct line of sight into the room, though they are quite far away and not close enough to be a major issue. Parking was available and worked almost like a valet service, which was convenient and hassle-free. Overall, a comfortable stay with great service, clean rooms, and a nice view. We would happily stay here again.

A really great hotel with lots of character and history, but still very clean and well maintained. The renovation has been done beautifully and everything feels fresh and spotless. The room amenities were very well equipped. The only downside was that the room we were given this time was a bit small. Breakfast was excellent with a great variety, including Tasmanian specialty dairy products and cherries. The staff were also very professional, friendly, and welcoming. Overall, a wonderful stay.

The atmosphere at Peppina was equally inviting, with a charming decor that complemented the delicious food, creating a perfect setting for a leisurely breakfast.In the evenings, we enjoyed drinks at Mary Mary, another fantastic venue within the hotel. The bar had a vibrant yet relaxed ambiance, making it an ideal spot to unwind after a day of exploring. The cocktail menu was impressive, featuring both classic favorites and innovative creations crafted by skilled mixologists. Each drink we ordered was expertly made and beautifully garnished, adding to the overall experience.Overall, our stay at the Tasman Luxury Hotel was a true testament to hospitality at its finest. The combination of exceptional service from Tayla and Ebony, along with delightful dining experiences at Peppina and Mary Mary, created a memorable getaway that we will cherish for a long time. We left feeling rejuvenated and grateful for the outstanding care we received throughout our visit.
