Tokar Estate

We visited Tokar Winery on Sunday and were looked after by Jordy, who was excellent. He explained the wines clearly, was genuinely pleasant, and made the whole tasting really enjoyable. The winery itself is lovely. Peaceful, relaxing, and the kind of place you want to linger a little longer. And of course, the wine was excellent. We had a great time and would happily come back.

We had the christmas set menu! We couldn't fault it. Huge portions- delicious steak cooked to perfection, yummy salmon. Beautiful fresh salad. Even the antipasti board had heaps of crackers. The wine was delicious. Only disappointing thing was the fruit on the dessert (we think was melon) wS tasteless. By that stage we were so full it didn't matter and the mini pavlova's were the best. Such a great meal all for $90 a head. Thank you and Merry Christmas

Whilst this used to be a personal favourite, the service and dining experience has certainly deteriorated over the past couple of years. Staff were disinterested and slow to respond. The menu was uninspiring and the mains average. Do not order the "spiced" duck as unfortunately it lacked any hint of spice. The overpriced truffle for dessert was so small that the waiter was confused and thought he had not even delivered the dessert! Was hoping they would pick up their game after my last visit's disappointment, and with so many good alternatives nearby don't think I will be back.

We came to Tokar on a Sunday afternoon having booked the wine and chocolate tasting package, only to be told upon our arrival that they only had half of the chocolates available, as they'd run out earlier that day. Which would have been fine, but they did not offer to adjust pricing to suit what they had available. Wines were ok, but they charged us full price in the end for delivering an incomplete package not as advertised. We won't be going back for such an average experience.

Lovely setting and very nice wines but restaurant was extremely disappointing. The entree marrow was drowning in salt and oil and my steak was overcooked. I ordered rare and it was cooked well beyond medium - quite dry with no flowing juices at all. And charged $70 for this!! Dessert was good but not enough to make up for the rest of the overpriced poorly cooked meal. Definitely not recommended and we will not be back

Visited the Cellar Door in Nov 2025 Tokar Estate was one of the wineries we visited during my recent trip to the Yarra Valley. The directions were a bit weird as the Cellar Door was actually closed and the wine tasting was taking place at the restaurant. Maybe it was because it was pouring down the day I visited. So in case you’re visiting for the wine tasting at the Cellar Door and find it closed by chance, do drop by and check at the restaurant. The tasting flight comprised 5 wines (1 Prosecco, 1 Rose and 3 Reds). It was a nice selection of the various types of wines the estate produces. Service was good and the lady who was in-charge of the tasting was patient and kind to explain the details of the wines we were trying. All in all, a decent winery to drop by for a tasting experience.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary in here in September. The weather was not that warm, so we got seated inside. Nice decore. The food was very tasty and fresh. 😊
