7.0

Situated in Beechworth, The Old Priory is a charming wedding venue nestled in a historic building, offering a unique blend of old-world charm and modern comfort. With its spacious rooms and beautiful bathrooms, the venue provides a cozy and memorable stay for guests. The helpful staff and delightful breakfast add to the overall pleasant experience.

The venue is conveniently located, just a short walk from the main street of Beechworth. While the rooms and bathrooms are well-maintained, the historic nature of the building means that some areas may show signs of age, and the walls may be a bit thin. An absolute historic gem!!! I’m lucky to have been able to stay within it. Bed was comfy, good pillows. It’s a much older building (that’s the literally the point), and the bathrooms are soooo gorgeous. Walls were thin but it’s fine. Anyone complaining about that needs to just stay somewhere lame like the ibis. Staff were helpful and nice, little breaky downstairs was amazing and such a privilege and a pleasure. Walking distance to Main Street of Beechworth. Loved it!!!

Have just returned from a super stay at The Old Priory, Beechworth. Ten of us stayed on the first night of a cycling tour of Beechworth, Myrtleford and Bright. The accomodation is basic but suited our needs. It's clean, there are ample bathrooms and it has a communal eating area. Bikes were locked in a secure shed. The Old Priory is a beautiful old building with history, it's quiet and centrally located.

I stayed here yesterday and it was not good at all. The beds were super uncomfortable I barely got any sleep. Barely any room or night stands to put my stuff anywhere I had to put everything on the floor. There were two small heaters in my room, "our room was massive" kids stomping from upstairs at 6am in the morning and a group of 20 year olds laughing and yelling at 3am. I don’t know why this business is still open as the walls were dirty, the toilet wouldn’t flush properly at all etc. I was thrilled to leave this facility as my whole stay I felt depressed, disgusted and overwhelmed with the over all energy at this place. would not recommend for anyone.

A wonderful venue for a large (30+ people, from 2 to 70 years) family long weekend. A beautiful, old historic building with plenty of bedrooms which had comfortable, crisp bedding and a heater in every room. Plenty of bathrooms and toilets. Stairs may be an issue for some people. Our hosts Angela and Reno were friendly, and very accommodating and flexible to the point of opening up additional space for us to host a family murder mystery evening. The living/dining area had plenty of tables (many board games and a large jigsaw were involved) and chairs and a lounge suite. Kitchen services were limited to a sink, basic crockery and cutlery, microwave and 1.5 fridges. With foresight we brought a BBQ, gas cooker, electric frypans and air fryers which helped meet all our meal needs. Our hosts kindly provided additional wine glasses and BBQ utensils on request. The Priory is a very short walk to the town centre which is another bonus. I would certainly recommend this venue for a family gathering.

Beautiful old building with interesting history, but too scary to be a hotel! The room that my mum and I were going to stay in (room 6) was so empty, tiny and creepy, that we had to stay in my auntie and cousin’s room (toy room) which was spacious and more of a peaceful room to sleep in. In the middle of the night, we heard furniture moving on the floor above us, and there was no furniture to move! And room 6’s door was almost wide open in the morning even though we locked it shut. The guest room was great though. It had a whole breakfast station with cereal, coffee, toast etc. I recommend if you love creepy buildings or if you’re not scared of being in dark rooms.

Very much enjoyed our stay. Will be back. Great location to town. Beautiful old building.... kids thought it was scary. Great communication with Angela who recommended the teachers dorm for us and another family. Would love to know more about the history of the building. Enjoyed the common areas and breakfast in the dining room. Great value for a Christmas holidays adventure.

Weird entrance - noone around, just my name and a key on the table. All the lights were out, so the halls were gloomy and had really bad signage. The rooms are named oddly and yet don't have a name plate on them. You have to look at the tiny map, in the gloom, to know where you are - had to get out my phone's torch. Ask *not* to be on the lower floor as people walking above you will wake you up (happened twice). There are "strictly no entrance" signs on the door to the bathroom - doors were shut (possibly locked) when we got there. Manager came up and asked aggressively "Can I *help* you" after I had picked up the key and was in the midst of opening up the room's door in the gloom of the hall which I didn't appreciate. At least two fire exit doors were locked (I checked them specifically in the 'guest lounge') so a fire hazard and against fire regulations as well. Excessively spartan rooms. Also, being expected to wash dishes is kind of not okay in a motel - if I'm paying for the 'privilege' of staying there, I won't wash the dishes for you sorry. Overall a poor experience. Could have been way better potentially as the street had lovely big trees and was a graceful looking old building.
