Great place to go for dinner and a show it is booking only, with comedy and music at different times. The food is delicious my lamb shank was the ducks nuts melt in your mouth tasty. Our gorgeous waitress made the night even better. Worth your time to visit for dinner or a place for your reception or function. A beautiful old building and great food and people. Beautiful building built in 1860s but modern as you walk in. Our dinner was in the boardroom, had a look in the bar and ballroom which were both modern and fresh. Staff were super friendly. Had a chat with the owner, great bloke. We had a lovely 2019 Shiraz from Bookend with our dinner. I enjoyed the Porterhouse steak cooked medium, would have preferred it to be a little more tender. My wife had the crumbed lamb cutlets which she absolutely loved. We had sticky date pudding for dessert which was just amazing. Daughter enjoyed her fish & chips and snakes alive for her dessert.

Absolutely loved our experience at The Grand Ballarat! We booked a birthday dinner for a group of 20, and they went above and beyond to make it special. They generously offered us a private room, which made the night feel so intimate and personal. The staff were genuinely warm, kind, and incredibly accommodating—from holding onto our cake to saving the day with candles when we realised we’d forgotten ours! It’s those thoughtful little touches that made the night unforgettable. The food? Absolutely delicious. Every dish was full of flavour and beautifully presented. The ambience of the place is just divine—elegant, cosy, and perfect for a celebration or an intimate dinner. We all had such a great time and left with full hearts and happy bellies. Already planning our next visit! Highly recommend The Grand Ballarat for any special occasion or just a lovely night out. A true gem!

We cannot praise the Grand Bar Restaurant Functions highly enough. We recently held a birthday celebration at this delightful venue with its lovely old world charm. Our guests, 45 in total, all raved over the delicious meals. The menu was quite extensive and very reasonably priced. Sean & Kellie & staff were very pleasant and went out of their way to accommodate our requests, making this a very memorable occasion. Thank you Sean, Kellie and staff. We appreciated all you did for us even down to the personal touches on the menu sheet. 👏👏👏

Thank you to Shaun and his staff for our lovely day at this gorgeous building, absolutely perfect for two oldies celebrating their 60th Wedding Anniversary. Everyone commented on the lovely food and service. Everything we asked was accommodated for with no problems at all. Thank you we had a fantastic day.

We had our Christmas Staff party at the Grand Bar Restaurant on Saturday night, and the feedback from all 57 guests in our group was most complimentary. Best night ever, food was excellent, staff were very helpful, pleasant and obliging., the variety of food and drinks were wonderful. Sean & the team were incredible, they couldn't have done anything better, we would highly recommend The Grand for anybody looking for a wonderful night out. We will definitely be back.

Celebrated my 70th birthday with 40 guests for lunch. We were put in the function room with beautifully set up tables and great service. We all ordered off the menu and the meals were fantastic and reasonably priced. Its a very elegant and lovely venue with old world charm. Highly recommended.
