An amazing dinner. The food was delicious. We had the duck salad and prawn cocktail as entree followed by the scotch fillet. Shane and his team were exceptional from our last minute booking to the end of our meal. Highly recommend if you’re in Armidale. Well priced too. Thank you for a wonderful experience

This was my first visit to The Cottage although my hosts had dined there frequently and have always been impressed . There is a reason why this restaurant ranks so highly given the number of reviews they have and the ease with which people can be critical based on individual tastes . The atmosphere is very impressive and reflects a bygone era of Armidale . A beautifully renovated building with tables positioned far enough away so as to allow some privacy . The menu was comprehensive and impressive as was the wine list . A huge blackboard displayed a number of daily specials . Wait staff were well trained and appropriately attentive . The biggest impact for me on the night was the involvement and interaction with the guests by the owner Shane . I believe he greeted every table and spent more that just a fleeting moment with them . Sharp of wit and quick if mind our table enjoyed great conversation with him … and even though Shane is a Kiwi , we didn’t find it too difficult to understand him . He obviously loves his profession . The Cottage is mostly heavily booked so bookings are essential if you don’t want to be disappointed . Congratulations The Cottage ! I will certainly revisit when next I head to Armidale from Bali or Brisbane .

How delighted I was to bring my group of older folk to this wonderful restaurant for dinner, as we had an overnight stay in the adjacent motel. Shane and his team were exceptional, with the attention to detail indicating diligent training and enthusiastic commitment to providing a true experience of fine dining to the guests. Unsurprisingly, the atmosphere in this heavily- booked was buzzing, yet reassuringly calm and relaxing. Very highly recommended, but make sure you book.

Our first visit to the cottage restaurant. They lived up to the recommendations. The service, atmosphere and food were all amazing. Thanks Shane for looking after us and making our special occasion something to remember. We had Button mushroom and lentil ragu filled roasted capsicum set on potatas bravas accompanied with a fresh Tuscan salad and house made dressing (gf, vegan). So good to see vegan done well. Not surprisingly one of the chefs is vegan. We be sure to come back regularly.

The staff were very attentive. I enjoyed watching the barman making cocktails. It was nice to see someone really enjoying their job. The food was outstanding and beautifully presented and very rich in flavour. Recommend starting with dessert though. The Bailey's Panna Cotta was amazing, especially with the fresh berries.

We had the pleasure of dining here on an overnight stopover. It was a last minute booking and Shane and the team made us feel welcomed like a local . The service and food was exemplary and we would return to Armidale again just to dine here. All the food was great , but special mention for the prawn cocktail and crème brûlée ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
