Atura Albury

This place is dark and gloomy. Very overrated, might be a good location but it needs a serious uplift to brighten it up to make it an inviting place to stay. We stayed there many hyears ago when it was Rydges...far better back then.. The tiny ensuite with its white tiles and dark grout hits you in the eye, then with the toilet bowl between the shower recess and the wash basin virtually no room to move, and stepping passed the toilet to get to the wash basin is just not the modern way of presenting an ensuite for travellers.||Hated the virtual Kiosk for check in... having a machine spit out your room number and room keys is just not an inviting friendly way for guests on arrival.||We tried the breakfast, very average and overpriced given most of the food was just warm.||With such a dark and gloomy place, we just wanted to get out of there as quick as we could.||Booking.com ratings putting this place among the 4 top places in Albury (ratings over 8) is a huge error. We would rate this place as nothing more than a 3 star at best.

Location of the hotel was good as it was within walking distance to other amenities, Cafe, shopping centre and bar. Staff at reception was very helpful and happy to lend a hand to hold the lift when we are moving our luggage to the lift. Room wise, cleanliness of the room was average as I need to wipe the dust off various part of the furniture before I use it. Bed was slightly too soft (for information only). View of the room looked quite nice but we were located on Level 2, so we could hear the noise of the kids playing at the swimming pool.

I eloped recently at Altura and I can not find a single complaint if I tried...they handled everything, asked all the questions to make it perfect....and perfect they made it. The food was excellent, the best staff I have ever dealt with. Drinks were out of this world. Everything was just incredible. I want to do it all again as it was the best time! I highly recommend anyone thinking of doing a small or large elopement/wedding getting ahold of Roxy and going for it...also i might add it was such good value for money. I can not give enough praise. All I had to do as a bride was find a dress, photographer and hair/make up and flower's.... Roxy handled the rest, and decorated and gave me menus and organised the most amazing celebrant .. no stress elopements...loved it rooms were beautiful. And so much around to ....

While the hotel is in need of a little TLC, it offers a great stay with plenty of perks. The rooms are spacious and equipped with all the basics, though a carpet refresh would go a long way in modernizing the space. The highlights are definitely the amenities; the pool and games room are fantastic, and the lobby is a cut above other hotels perfect for hanging out. With a seamless online check-in process, free easy parking, and a simple breakfast that beats out the local competition, it’s a high value choice despite its slightly dated feel.

The location is excellent, with easy walking distance to the city centre and the botanical garden. The room was comfortable overall though we did notice that the trash from the previous guest hadn’t been cleared, but it didn’t affect our stay. Breakfast was fine and a nice start to the day.

I wish I read reviews before getting work to book this place. The pictures are deceiving. The rooms are tired, basic and not overly clean. The hotel has that old damp smell. The room itself was dusty. WiFi was horrible, I ended up just hotspoting. Wafer thin sheets, blanket and towels. No extra blankets in the room. Staff were rude. I was ignored on check in and bar staff weren't much better. Only thing good about the place was good water pressure and happy hour....book somewhere else.

The rooms are good and clean, but they have a large construction site next door. We had four rooms and I asked for a quiet room for an aging family member. The room provided overlooked the construction site. At 5:40am the site opened and the noise began waking all those on that side of the building. This was particularly annoying when we asked for a quote room for managing family member, only to be allocated overlooking the building site. I visited the front desk after identifying the ‘quiet’ room overlooked the construction site. I was told that there had not been any noise complaints. The next morning, after most of our family had been woken at 5:30am and the building site continued banging steel for the concrete reinforcing and slamming site shed doors, we reported the noise as a formal complaint. The desk manager’s response was uncaring and made no effort to record the complaint. I guess that’s why they had no reported complaints - they just ignore them. My recommendation: try somewhere else for the next 12 months.
