This is easily the best camera shops you can find in Sydney. Compared with many regular camera stores, they have a much more spacious layout and a bright, welcoming environment. It’s more like a warehouse or a studio. There are plenty of demo cameras, lenses, and lighting setups that you can freely try. I feel like entering a professional studio as a first impression. In many other shops, even when demos are available, the space is cramped and the lighting is poor—but here, you can really take your time and experience the gear properly. What truly sets this place apart is the people. The staff aren’t just there to sell equipment—you can genuinely tell they love photography. They regularly host photography events and social gatherings, which creates an inspiring and friendly community atmosphere. A special thank you to my brother Levi, who helped me with incredible patience. I was able to try the two cameras I was torn between for as long as I needed, take real photos, and test different lenses. His help made a huge difference, and I completely fell in love with the atmosphere here. I really appreciate the experience, and George Cameras Chatswood will definitely be my first choice for photography equipment from now on. I also love that they have regular Friday BBQs—I can’t wait to join one!

I had the best experience with Ollie at George’s Cameras! From the moment I walked in, he was incredibly attentive and solution-focused, really taking the time to understand what I needed and helping me find the perfect camera setup. He is highly knowledgeable and explained everything in a way that made it easy to understand and I left feeling confident about my purchase and excited about my new gear. Ollie’s also just such a friendly, approachable and genuinely helpful person which made the whole experience feel effortless. The Chatswood studio itself is fantastic too… beautifully set up, hands-on, and the perfect place to explore and test out equipment before deciding. I popped in last Friday about 5 minutes before closing (really didnt want to be that guy but had come straight from work) Firstly, the vibe when you walk in the door is amazing. The lighting display and setup of the shop is fantastic and you know you’re walking into a place where all the team are going to have the right knowledge and advice. I then was approached by Victor with a great smile on his face ready to help, even this late on a Friday afternoon. I was after a black x100vi, moments before I arrived, another customer had purchased one and now the website was showing no stock. Victor made it his mission to explore behind every box in the storeroom to try and find me another one, and he did. The customer service was next to none and I am extremely grateful for his help. We then had a great chat about the whole fuji line and different filters, his knowledge was great and helped me clear up a few questions I had. Victor’s passion and service made the experience really easy and enjoyable and he is an extremely valuable asset to the team. Will definitely be recommending this store and Victor to anyone. I went there last week to buy a microphone, and I was amazed by the shop and even more by the staff, who are incredibly friendly and enjoyable to talk with! The store presentation is beautiful, and you can tell they paid attention to every detail. It's one of those places you definitely want to spend more time in. The good environment and passion they put into their work make it the kind of place I would genuinely love to work in one day. I had the pleasure of dealing with Victor today at the Chatswood store, and he was absolutely fantastic. Victor is incredibly knowledgeable, genuine, and kind, and what really stood out was that he never tried to upsell anything 🙂 just honest, helpful advice. Even after my purchase, he spent around 40 minutes educating me on camera gear, lenses, and so many things I didn’t know before my visit. Ollie and the team at Georges Cameras Chatswood were fantastic. Ollie went above and beyond to make sure I left the store happy, even without me asking. He’s genuinely friendly and represents the kind of service most shops lack these days. The level of customer care here is on another level compared to other stores. Even when I visit the city store, the experience is just as great. It’s a shame the Chatswood branch doesn’t stock everything, but if you already know what you’re after, these guys are awesome to deal with. Unlike some other camera retailers like DigiDirect, where the staff can come across rushed or disinterested, Georges staff make you feel valued and never arrogant or dismissive. They genuinely want to help. Hands down, Georges Cameras, whether Chatswood or City, is the best place to shop for anything camera-related. I came in knowing a fair bit, but I still needed a bit more guidance. Luckily, I was saved by the awesome Olly! He was honest, smart and genuinely wanted to help another photographer out. I’d highly recommend him if you ever need assistance with new purchases or some great tips and tricks. The service was fantastic and the prices were pretty good.
