Ferguson Plarre's Bakehouse

📍 Wedding bakeries in Cheltenham

6.5

Ferguson Plarre's Bakehouse in Cheltenham offers a traditional Aussie bakery experience, known for its wide selection of sweet treats and savory pastries. While their coffee and apple slices are consistently praised, some customers note inconsistencies in freshness and flavor, particularly in items like spinach rolls. The customer service can vary—some find it accommodating and friendly, while others report encounters that fall short of warmth or professionalism.

The bakery stands out for its local appeal, especially for those seeking classic options like ham and cheese croissants or birthday cakes. However, occasional delays in service and a limited seating area may pose challenges during peak times. A balanced visit might include takeaway treats, given the mixed feedback on in-store dining experiences.

I agree with the previous reviews below....the manager is akin to a character from Kath and Kim and has boomer Karen vibes. 😆 I know that the clientele are an older white demographic but there is no excuse to engage in conservative behaviour with people they don't like especially in 2026 and after the tragedy of Bondi. Yes it's traditional Aussie food but staff are stuck in the past with horrible customer service . Please do better .

went on thursday after school to pick up treat after dinner. the sraff member was so abusive that she made children cry - i moved a chair and dared to explain the option. there was NOBODY else. ended up going to doughnut place - probably got better tasting treat & very nice and helpful staff. will not go back and strongly recommend doughnut place

At Southland early and Fergusson Plarre one of the few places open. So was glad to see they had spinach rolls, because I love my spinach rolls!! I did not love this. It wasn't warm enough and there was hardly any spinach in it, very very similar to the awful spinach rolls you get at 7-11 where I think they wave it over the spinach. However they do have a nice salad sandwich, so split it with husband who also had a ham and cheese croissant, which he liked. They have an amazing range of sweet treats and am tempted every time I walk past!! So hard to resist but haven't cracked....... yet.

Visit Fergie's when I come to Southland as I like the coffee and other good stuff - pastries, sangers, wraps, cakes, slices. Staff are efficient and smiley. Was a bit quiet on the Tuesday arvo I last dropped in. Not a huge number of seats so it gets tricky in busy times. There's always takeaways. Recommend this place and the apple slice

Spent $35 on a chocolate cake. not only was it very stale but all you could taste was dough. Hugely disappointed as it was a birthday cake. I won’t buy here again for this inferior product. My wife and I actually couldn’t taste the presence of any chocolate in the cake!

Around 4:30 PM on a weekday, my son with special needs and I took our seats to quickly finish our takeaway drinks. There were still several people in the dining area with their food and drinks (we were the only Asians, though). Out of everyone there, we were the only ones approached by a staff named Tracey, who told us, very rudely, that we needed to leave because she wanted to finish cleaning up to go home. She was loud enough that my son had to cover his ears. We left after a rushed three minutes (I even had to use a timer to help my son transition), but there were still others seated, and she never asked any of them to leave. What else could that be except racial and/or disability discrimination? It was a very unpleasant experience.
