I had a very good experience with Aussie Trax. We only wanted a car to explore Fraser Island for one day on Boxing Day. We left our own car at the marina and crossed on the ferry as walk-ins, which saved us a lot of money. As soon as we got off the ferry, we picked up the car inside the resort. They were very attentive ,welcomed us and explained how to drive the car and where to go, giving us all the tips and support we needed. It was an excellent experience and a spectacular day full of adventure. I would definitely recommend Aussie Trax.

We called several different companies, but Aussie Trax met all of our needs. We booked ahead while still in the U.S. Once in Hervey Bay and on morning of departure, we met with Brody at the business site. He was so friendly and knowledgeable about Fraser Island and even gave advice on other destinations for us. Very professional and our rental, ferry transfer, and resort accommodations were all in place and worked well. It was an awesome experience!

We hired an Aussie Trax 4x4 for a 3 night stay on K'gari. It was a smooth process in the beginning, if not a bit of a rush to get inducted and then rush to the ferry so we didn't miss it. The trip itself went well with no issues. Sadly the same can't be said for Aussie Trax customer service. Before we took the 4x4 we paid a $2000 bond as per the T&C's to cover for any potential damage during the trip. We were assured this would be returned to us as long as there were no issues with the 4x4 on it's return. No issues were raised with us when we returned the vehicle nor in any of the days since then (which is to be expected as we didn't encounter any issues with the vehicle throughout the trip). 6 weeks later and we still haven't had the bond returned. Aussie Trax have not responded to any of our email correspondence, have offered us no explanation as to why they have kept our money and have not returned the money. We have had to claim the money through our bank and presumably Aussie Trax have just pocketed the money for themselves. Absolutely TERRIBLE customer service. We have simply been ignored and our money unlawfully held. Would not recommend going with them again.

Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience with Aussie Trax. When we picked up the car, we immediately noticed that it was very old, poorly maintained, and dirty. There was also trash left behind by the previous renter. At such a high price for a one-day rental, I expected something different. We set off with a bad feeling. After about 3 hours, we had a flat tire without me having hit anything. See picture. We wanted to change the tire, but unfortunately this was not possible with the tools in the car because the jack arm was too small and all the bolts on the tire were rusted shut. We were also not told what to do in the event of a breakdown. When we returned the car, we were told that they would not be taking it back and that we would receive an email. There is no chance of discussion, as the emails are not answered. You then receive a cheap bill for the amount that will be deducted, and even after repeated requests, you do not receive a receipt. The deposit is then transferred back to you, which means that as a foreigner, you lose even more money due to the exchange rate. Why they don't do what all other rental companies do, which is simply to hold the deposit and then release it again, is a mystery to me. MONEY GONE, EXPERIENCE RUINED, AND NO RECEIPT FOR INSURANCE AT HOME! Total cost for the day over AUD 1000. Better to book a guided tour than with Aussie Trax.

I have not a single clue on why some people rate this company low. They are just an amazing firm to do a trip to Kgari. We booked quite late on the day before we wanted to go, but they still made sure we got to go to Kgari. The vehicle was just perfect. I am actually glad they aren't the newest vehicles. After all, you are booking an off road adventure, not a trip down the city Boulevard. A brand new car would only give stress for scratches. Yes, they are not the cheapest around. But they are so complete and knowledgeable about everything related to 4WD on Kgari. We had a blast on the island, and would book again. Thanks to Aussie Trax for enabling these memories we have for life.

We received a very friendly welcome from Aussi Trax and were quickly briefed on all the details. Above all, we received perfect information about low tide and high times, as well as tour suggestions that we made over the two days. Fraser Island transported us to a breathtakingly magical world, truly changing our way of thinking and feeling. Many thanks to Aussi Tracks for this special, extraordinary experience. We will remember it for a long time, and it opened our eyes to many things. We highly recommend the tour with Aussi Trax. We did get stuck once, but there were always enough caring and helpful people there to help us. The community and nature gave us great joy. All the best and once again, thank you with 5 stars to Aussi Trax!

Did 3 nights at Eurong via kingfisher and had a Land Cruiser. Was amazing and the best part of our trip (from UK 1 month in Aus). The accommodation was great, spacious rooms and friendly staff and customers. The car we called Rusty, she was awesome, never let us down. She'd had better days but if your life is to be driven by tourists on the beach, what do you expect. These things go forever. Saw a few of the pink cars stuck but we were fine. Visited Lake Wabby on the way in. The next day up to Indian Head, Champagne Falls, Orchid Beach and Waddy Point (Check tides before going this far as past Champagne Falls is not suggested by Aussie Trax. We had neap tides so spent time between Champagne Falls and Waddy point around a very low high tide rather than head home on the beach and were with locals). Next day another stop at SS Maheno and then some time at Eli Creek. On way home on the last day we went via Lake Mackenzie. Driving tips, plenty of speed in and out of Eurong. Road out of Kingfisher is pretty bumpy, take it easy as you get use to it. Road up to Champagne Falls needs low gears and decent speed but people tow boats up/down there so it's all relative. Any roads that go off the beach and around rocks (tide depending) needs caution and low gears but get up to speed and don't stop if going up hill on sand. Driving on the beach requires concentration and is hard work, don't speed and watch for water streams running down to the sea and be prepared to brake hard. Also just because someone has $150k 4by4 doesn't mean they know what they're doing. You will see plenty of idiots driving on the beach and in the sea, don't be one of them. Thanks Aussie Trax for a great car and an amazing 3 nights!
