Coral Sea Dreaming Dive and Sail

My boyfriend and I had an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experience with Coral Sea Dreaming! Neither of us had ever scuba dived before, but we felt more than comfortable trying it for the first time—especially with no better place to do it than the Great Barrier Reef. The crew—Darren, Chad, and Yann—went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and ensure we had a great time. The ship was well maintained, and the food was excellent. One of the best parts was being out on the reef without huge tourist crowds. At one point, we passed a boat with probably 80 people on it, and we were so glad we didn’t choose one of those trips. You have the chance to do up to five different dives or snorkeling sessions at various locations. We ended up doing two dives and five snorkeling sessions, and it was absolutely worth the price for such a unique experience. I would highly recommend Coral Sea Dreaming and would love to come back in the future for another dive!

We spent the 2 days and 1 night for my birthday on Coral Sea Dreaming and it was truly an unforgettable experience!! The crew were incredible - experienced, fun, relaxed and easy to get along with. It genuinely felt like sailing with friends. On top of this, the dives were amazing with huge coral pillars and archways, colourful fish, turtles and the occasional reef shark. The night dive was a huge highlight (first time for us); it was unexpected to see the ocean so full of activity, with predatory fish on the lookout for prey (not us of course). We also had the opportunity to catch a few reef sharks on the hunt during the dive. After this, we enjoyed a beautiful sunset and slept on the deck under the stars. If you want an authentic reef experience I couldn’t recommend Coral Sea Dreaming enough! We did the 2-day Coral Sea Dreaming trip and it was a great experience. First of all, the crew really makes this trip. Captain Justin is incredibly skilled and knowledgeable, you feel completely safe the entire time. Safety is clearly a priority, but without it ever feeling strict or uncomfortable. Robbie and Chad, the dive instructors, were great as well. Super friendly and patient. The whole crew are just genuinely good people who make sure you don’t lack anything during the trip. This is not a 5-star luxury yacht experience, and that’s exactly the point. If you want an authentic sailing adventure, small group vibes, and a more intimate reef experience, this is perfect. We visited beautiful reef spots without other boats around, which made it feel much more personal and special. Snorkeling and diving in those quieter locations was a highlight. If you’re after an intimate atmosphere, stunning reef locations, and a crew that genuinely cares, Coral Sea Dreaming is the one to choose.

Our family loved this trip. It was a wonderful small-group experience. Captain Justin and dive instructors Chad, Darren, and Peter created a relaxed, cheerful atmosphere while always being super attentive to safety. We were put in small groups for diving, and the crew met us exactly where we were - offering assistance where needed, and giving us space when we demonstrated our experience levels. One of our family snorkeled instead of diving, and really appreciated having a guide to point out interesting sights. The whole trip felt low-pressure and high support. The ship is small, and this is definitely not a luxury cruise. That said, the crew took care of everything we needed, providing meals and snacks, drinks and fresh drinking water. The only blip in the entire process were some hiccups with communication when we had questions about the ship layout and snorkeling options. We highly recommend Coral Sea Dreaming for anyone who wants a small, family-owned, safety-minded, friendly and supportive dive experience.

I had the absolute best time diving and sailing with the crew on coral sea dreaming. The sail boat itself if not the most luxurious but that is what made the trip so special. With only 5 crew and 8 passengers everyone connected quickly and the vibes were always good. The dive guides Darren, Chad, and Peter were patient and made sure every dive was safe as well as exciting. My mom and I did four day dives and one night dive which we loved. The equipment was all in perfect condition and we had no problems while diving. There is also no need to stress as the crew sets up all the equipment and double checks everything throughout the whole process. The night dive was amazing and unlike anything I have done before, Our group saw many sharks and great trevaly which very active at night and amazing sight to see. Lastly, Captain justin was amazing as well he brought a very lively energy to the boat and was clearly an experienced captain. If you are looking for a dive boat with incredible energy and great dives i would highly recommend coral sea dreaming!!

What an amazing experience! Two days and one night on a sailing boat with an awesome crew that were fun, super kind and helpful and made sure we had a great time. They took us to the best spots on the reef and we had plenty of time to explore all the beauty underwater. Whether you are a certified diver or only stick to snorkeling, you will definitely have a great time. I only did snorkeling and was a bit worried that I would miss out but NO! I saw reef sharks, sea turtles, a ray, trigger fish, potato cod, barracuda and so much beautiful coral and colourful fish! If you are planning to go to the great barrier reef, better do it with a small and local company. This one I highly recommend!

What a fantastic entry liveaboard for our family! As we had a very tight schedule, the 2 days and 1 night was perfect for us. Jan was our skipper and handle the sailboat and the managed the ship beautifully. Chad was an exceptional dive master to take two of us on intro dives with patience and clarity of explanation as well as a good knowledge of marine life. We felt very safe! Pete and Chad were very hard working with making and cleaning up after meals and getting the four of us kitted out for snorkeling. As other reviewers have mentioned, the boat is a bit older but it met our needs well.
