I had an unfortunate experience with this service. I hired Sofia Leigh to do my hair on my wedding day. In the lead up to the wedding, one of my bridesmaids was diagnosed with cancer and could not attend the wedding. Sofia requested that I replace her makeup spot with someone else and initially did not demonstrate understanding or empathy. She finally agreed to reduce the price but still requested that I sign a contract saying that I would still pay the original price (which I did not do!). She then was very disinterested and disengaged on the wedding day. None of the bridesmaids had their hair done in the way they requested and all of it had to be redone multiple times. She also told me that she had to get through everyone quickly as she had another wedding to get to. She didn’t even stay to place my veil. It was an unfortunate experience for a wedding day. I would not recommend this service

Sofia was absolutely amazing from the minute I got in contact with her at the start of the planning phase right through to the end of the big day. Sofia had great communication, answered all of my questions and worked flexibly with me to ensure all my family, including the bridal party were able to get their makeup done for the wedding day. Sofia and Raquel turned up and managed timing wonderfully so at point was I stressed or concerned about things getting done. I loved how relaxed and fun it was to have Sofia and Raquel there on my wedding day and could not recommend Sofia Leigh Bridal more highly. Thanks again for being part of my amazing day!

Sofia is fantastic. She did hair and makeup for both me and my groom and we were so happy with the results. Sofia completely understood the look I was after and all of her suggestions made it better than I could have imagined. So firstly in terms of skill, the look was great and lasted ALL day, I didn't need to do any touch ups other than lips, which is amazing. My hair never holds a curl, but Sofia made it happen and they were still in good shape the next day! Unheard of for my stubbornly straight, fine hair! Secondly there is all the other stuff that goes into a great experience with a professional. Sofia was easy to communicate with, punctual etc, but probably most importantly was just a delightful person to be around. The first time we met for my trial she had already been working all day but I had no idea because she did not appear even slightly tired. The day of my wedding was a very early start and she was just as bright and bubbly as though it wasn't still dark outside! I would 100% recommend Sofia and will definitely be using her services in future.

I didn’t want to leave a negative review for a small business, so I initially called Sofia to offer private feedback. Unfortunately, she was dismissive and rude, saying my feedback didn’t matter because I was a bridesmaid, not the bride. Sofia arrived flustered, immediately confronted the bride over parking costs, and threatened to leave unless she was paid—without so much as a "good morning" or "congratulations." Her tone was so harsh it left the bride crying in the bathroom. The drinks and nibbles package the bride paid for was inedible. The drinks were undrinkable, and the snacks were clearly stale—chips and crackers that had obviously been open for days. I had to leave to buy champagne because what was provided wasn’t fit to serve. The worst part was one of Sofia’s makeup artists, who openly said to me and another bridesmaid "I love when brides freak out, knowing I get to go home and lay under a blanket" I’m sure she was trying to be funny but completely unprofessional and deeply upsetting, especially when the bride was in tears nearby. When I shared this feedback with Sofia, she admitted the food was old but dismissed everything else because I wasn’t her client. She then misrepresented my call in an email to the bride, twisting my words. If Sofia doesn’t care to hear constructive feedback privately, I hope this helps someone else make an informed decision.

Sofia was amazing to work with. She is very professional and overall a great person to talk to and work with on your special day. She took notes after our initial trial and made all the adjustments I requested and created my dream look for my wedding day. She did my hair and makeup for my big day and did a phenomenal job. I was honestly blown away when I saw the final look 😊. For all the women of colour in the Sydney Newcastle area, looking for a makeup artist and hairstylist I would strongly recommend Sofia.
