Really enjoyed visiting this gallery. It’s not very big, but the space is beautiful and the exhibitions are thoughtfully curated. I like that you can take your time and enjoy the artworks without feeling rushed. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming. Definitely worth a stop if you’re visiting Geelong.
Have purchased tickets to several shows now and after nearly walking to the wrong venue the first time (we laughed at our stupidity) I have made sure to thoroughly check which theatre/venue the show/performance is taking place in. I mean, you'd think this information would be on your ticket.. but no, Geelong Arts Centre will send you a document with enough information to fill an A4 piece of paper, should you choose to print it out but it still won't actually give you a precise address on where you're to go. It will give the the name of said theatre, then tell you to look it up on their website! We recently attended a show at The Play House and I finally got to see inside the illusive (to me) Arts Centre. It's beautiful. Even if a tad annoying that you've just walked past Ryrie Street to the entrance in Lt. Malop Street, only to then be directed to almost Ryrie Street to enter your Stage Door. Thankfully the Ryrie Street doors were open for everyone to exit after the show. The Play House theatre, within Geelong Arts Centre was excellent for the show we saw. Comfy seats and an uninterrupted view of the stage. Perfect temperature also, as it was a warm evening. The gender neutral toilets makes them accessible for everyone. They were perfectly clean on our visit.
Loved the venue. The sound system is amazing for concerts and live shows. The clarity of vocals and instruments amazeme. My wife and I will be back. Ps. Wine and beer allowed to bring the show whilst watching. 👍
What a venue!! We are so lucky to have such an increidble space for artistic and creative expression. The theatres are not just beautiful and contemporary but also cutting edge flexible spaces that allow for all kinds of performance and art works. The other levels of workrooms and studio spaces are perfect for workshops, rehearsals, meetings and more. Everything you could ask for. The annual offerings are also so rich from the best stuff for kids, to local amateur and school groups and the best of touring professional theatre! The local performance work is so well supported as well. This venue is unmatched!
A lovely space with everything you need close by. We seen a comedy show which suited the space perfectly. A cafe and bar means you can get there early and relax before the show
Lots of great shows on here after the refurbishment. The bar has water for free, typical drink prices otherwise. Don't like the shared bathrooms though.
Attended a concert at Costa Hall - lovely hall, great acoustics and good seats, able to view the stage comfortably eg. from Row F. Adjacent roof top parking was confusing - we parked but decided to drive out to park elsewhere when we saw signs stating it closes at 11pm? Too risky to make it back on time after the 8pm concert.
