Footscray Market – I finally visited for the first time after planning to go for so long, and now it’s officially one of my favorite spots in Melbourne! This is not a fancy tourist market, but a truly local one, full of life, energy, and diversity. The atmosphere is buzzing with vendors calling out, the aroma of fresh food, and people from many different cultures blending together beautifully. You’ll find everything here – Asian, African, Indian, and Western foods all in one place. The produce is fresh, the seafood selection is huge, and the prices are very reasonable. A special highlight for me is the **beef section** – there’s such a wide variety of cuts like chuck steak and topside, all at amazing prices. Angus beef for just over $10 per kilo… unbelievable! For meat lovers, this place is heaven. The seafood stalls are also impressive, with so many categories and options. I even spotted frozen clams labeled from Thailand (which I had never seen back home). It takes me about 40 minutes to drive here, but it’s absolutely worth it to stock up. Footscray Market is vibrant, affordable, and a true cultural melting pot – highly recommended for anyone who loves food and local experiences.

Visited the Footscray fish market and honestly wasn’t impressed it was just chaotic and parking wasn’t helpful either didn’t know where to go once we parked up. Market had a strong fishy smell (obviously it’s a fish market) and as I was looking around at the different fishes the vendors had I couldn’t help but notice a few fishes that looked like it’s been sitting there for a while hence why the strong fish smell. Overall not a good experience wouldn’t come back here again.

Fanatic place for authentic cheap eats. Highlights where the Bahn Mi ( big call but best in Melbourne) and only $10. The Philippino Pork Blood stew and Pork Bun were also delicious. Will definitely come back. As for the markets it transported me back to HCM City or Hanoi just an absolute treat!

a great place to shop! Lots of fresh vegetables, fruits, meat, and seafood at good prices. There are also many Asian groceries and specialty stores. It’s busy and lively, but the atmosphere is friendly. Parking can be a little tricky sometimes, but overall it’s a great market for fresh and affordable shopping.

My favorite market so far. Not as big or as overwhelming as QV market but has everything you need. I think it's mostly an Asian market. Seafood is cheap. Meats are well priced. Vendors are nice and friendly. There are food stalls selling delicious Vietnamese food.

Compare to all the well-known markets in Melbourne. This market is dirty, very crowdy (Saturdays), unpleasant smell (meat & seafood section), low quality vegies but pay normal price as anywhere else. Do yourself a favor, if you want to buy fresh good quality and variety food, any Eastern, South-Eastern markets are better.
