Ballarat Wildlife Park

Great first time visiting here! It was a lot smaller than I thought (I’m used to visiting Werribee and Melbourne Zoo’s), but the interaction with her Kangaroo’s makes up for the smaller size of park. Also, a lot more koalas than the other two zoo’s! (I’m a big koala fan!). So that was a big bonus. It was lovely to be able to interact with the kangaroos (including feeding them) and it’s great they have so many rest areas when they are tired of the humans. The cafe is pretty small, but portions seemed good (prices did seem a bit much, same as every other attraction out there). It also has a small gift shop. I probably won’t be making it a regular visit (given we aren’t that close and it’s quite small), but I would definitely take friends and family for a visit.

This is a must-visit place to check in when you come to Ballarat. One of the main highlights you absolutely cannot miss is the chance to feed kangaroos up close and even gently touch them. However, it’s important not to disturb them too much give a respect to the host 🤣 You will also get to see many koalas closely, and you can take photos with them as well, but bookings are required in advance. The park is home to other amazing native animals such as wombats, which are usually sleeping during most visits, as well as Tasmanian devils and emus. There are also exciting shows, including crocodile feeding sessions, and you can see many different reptiles and other fascinating animals.🦘

We had such a great time here with our family. We loved being able to spend time with the kangaroos and feed them. I especially liked how they had a "Kangaroo Rest Area" for the kangaroos who wanted to take a break from interacting with people. All the workers are lovely and clearly have a strong love for all the animals. I definitely recommend coming earlier in the day and planning which encounters you want to go to.

Loved it. My kids had a great time. The kangaroos weren't that hungry, so we couldn't feed them all the bags we bought. Great experience with the family. Great staff too.

A great experience for all ages. From feeding kangaroos to seeing wombats and tiger and both giant and small reptiles. A fun filled outing if your in the area.

Absolutely wonderful, genuinely wish I could give this place more stars. Beautiful habitats, animals are clearly very well looked after. Had an absolute blast feeding the free-roaming emus and kangaroos, and the reptile and tiger presentations I attended were amazing. The staff are clearly passionate about the animals they care for and it shows. Didn’t get a lot of photos because I was too busy enjoying myself, but the park is absolutely gorgeous! Will definitely be returning!

Aussie animal must-do. Staff devoted to animal welfare- actually looked like they loved working there. Volunteers helping, calm, healthy animals...what more can you ask? They don't charge much and you can even bring your own picnic lunch. So nice compared to many places just looking to separate you from your money. Why do I love this place? 1. Tame Kangaroo Island kangaroos lounging everywhere to pet or feed. 2. Koalas you can actually see up close 3. Fairy (little) penguins 4. HUGE crocodile 5. Nice selection in the reptile house 6. Successful breeding programs. Go! Spend money in the gift shop! Sponsor an animal! Let's support this wonderful place.
