Vinnies Penrith

Great experience at Vinnies Penrith. The store is tidy, well set out, and full of good quality finds. We picked up some lovely clothes and a few brand new gifts. The staff were warm and friendly, which made the visit even better. A wonderful spot for budget friendly shopping. Worth a visit.

The woman working out the back today (12 February) was outright rude and aggressive. I came in with bags of brand-new donations and was spoken to like I’d done something wrong. She barked "no toys, no books" and as I went to get something else out, she yells "we don’t want that" (mind you, it was a $200+ brand new kids 3 in 1 walker from Myer) without any basic manners or explanation. Not a single thank you. The whole interaction was unnecessarily hostile and completely unacceptable for a charity store. Don’t bother if you’re coming here to donate, ungrateful, and rude, wish I read the reviews first.

I won’t be donating here again - I stopped by with some donations of kitchenware and office supplies, novelties etc - I wasn’t even out of the driveway yet and they were throwing things in the bin.. heartbreaking. I thought donations were meant to be about helping the community, not picking and choosing what they don’t like and chucking it out. So disappointing. The staff were rude and barely spoke a word also - turning your nose up at DONATIONS absolutely baffles me.

Worth a visit: No really. Price: Overpriced, most second hand shoes/boots are around $20, glassware is at the top of the price rang. Range: Almost all clothes with a small selection of homewares and books. A few solid shelves of DVDs/CDs. No furniture. Store: Small. Staff didn’t interact at all.

Average Vinnies near Penrith. Catch a bus to this shop and a small antique shop nearby. Records are $3 each. There are many clothes for women downstair. Homewares are in another room down the back..

Soo expensive for donations they get for free. Had to double check to see if i was at vinnies i thought i was in a boutique in the city. Most items you can get first hand for the same price. I understand they need to make a profit but if they used a strategy like Ioss leader or competitors pricing they could make a significant improvement. $15 for sandals that have visibly been used for a long time. These prices are not affordable.

I had a horrible experience making a donation today. I had a couple bags of things and I accidentally threw it in the bin instead of in the table as I didn’t know this was where it was meant to be left. Some places get you to throw it in the bin and they go through it on the table, honest mistake. But this lady working out the back in her car starts going off at me asking why I put it in the bin and I said it was a mistake and yells at me that I should have asked and I’ll know for next time. I even offered to take it out the bin and she continued to yell at me. I asked to stop being so rude and that I’m trying to do something nice by donating and she says how is it nice when you put it in the bin. After a very uncomfortable argument I ended up leaving saying I’m not coming back you are very rude then she backchats to me with good one less person to worry about. I left and was driving away in tears from this experience. I hate confrontation and the way this lady was speaking to me was not on. I understand I made a mistake but it’s not excuse to make a young girl who’s only 22 trying to do something good end up leaving the place crying. I can see other reviews about a similar bad experience donating 3 weeks ago and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the same lady. Something needs to be done about this ladies behaviour because it’s hurtful and rude. It’s ok to tell people if they’ve made a mistake but not in the way she went about it. If she’s talking to people like this she should not be working in customer service. I should not be left crying after visiting an institution and I will not be retuning which is upsetting as I enjoy going and donating to give to the less fortunate and going there to buy things if I’m a bit short on money.
