Brooke Review

Not a very welcoming experience at Ronald’s. Felt as though we were wasting his time. He was very dismissive and continued to amplify that we shouldn’t worry about trying rings on unless we were buying the ring on the spot, not helpful at all. We were unable to take a photo of the ring either which makes making a decision on a highly priced item hard.

Fantastic customer service, wouldn't trust any other jeweller in Cairns. Always patient and takes the time to discuss your needs and quality of work is superior.

I ordered a Gold Figaro mans chain, I wanted a specific weight, specific size and specific length. So Lance went to work, it is hand made out of Melbourne, and beautiful. It ended up being slightly under original weight, so Lance adjusted the price. If you want old fashion honest service. Don't bother going anywhere else. Best jeweller in town hands down.

I dropped in to have a screw tightened on my watch bracelet. The sales person gladly looked at my watch, tightened it, and chatted with us. I offered to pay and he politely declined my offer. I’m appreciative of his help because the backed out screw could have been disastrous to the watch’s value. Thanks for your help!!

Update: I have taken my rings for a review with another local jeweller. The ring with the missing diamond CAN be repaired despite what was claimed by this business, and is currently being repaired at $200. The other ring is so badly damaged by this business, three quarters of the ring needs to be completely rebuilt as it had been reduced from 1.2mm to 0.7mm, at a cost of $600. To simply resize my rings, I am now $1310 out of pocket due to the destruction Ronald’s Jewellers has caused to them. Needed 3 rings resizing to larger size which were my wedding, engagement and eternity rings. I was told that this could be easily done at cost of $510 for all 3. They fitted perfectly when I picked them up but within 1 month a baguette diamond had fallen out of my eternity ring. I had worn the ring for a week only. I went back and was told rudely "it happens but we won’t touch this ring as mass produced". I asked if there was any way it could be fixed and I will pay and was told "it cannot be repaired and would not even be able to source a diamond anyway as these cheap rings are mass produced overseas". I left feeling very shocked and disrespected as I had owned the ring for 15 years and it meant a lot to me. The following week my engagement ring split apart. I had only worn this ring for a week since my eternity ring lost a diamond. This time my husband went to the store with both rings. Again he was told very rudely "this happens and will not touch the ring". My husband asked if it was just a coincidence that the ring had been resized and the diamond fell out? He also asked about a ring being made larger and it affecting the diamonds but he was told that it’s normal to loose diamonds and they wouldn’t repair it. My husband then showed him my split engagement ring and was told "this split was not from us as it’s diagonal and we cut straight, see?". My husband said he could not see as the ring was being waved in the air. My husband said he found it very coincidental that they had resized the ring and now it was split as it had not been resized before. He was then told that they can repair it and will be ready in a week. Incidentally the split was totally straight. We collected my engagement ring today and was not charged. I asked if it would happen again and was told "it may if you using a shovel or broom". Upon returning home we have looked at my ring properly and it is now very thin and you can see and feel the join. The ring is now oddly shaped and looks nothing like it did when I first took it to the store as it was a uniformed thickness all round and now tapers to very thin, flat gold with more thickness on one side. It appears that they have repaired the split by thinning out my ring to provide the gold to do the job. This has devastated me as we had this ring custom made using my grandmothers diamond from her engagement ring. I now have 2 rings that are totally damaged just by paying for resizing and am wondering if my wedding ring is next to split. They were more than happy to take $510 off me and "touch" my rings when I first took them to the store. My husband and I were both spoken to rudely and it was highly disrespectful to disregard my jewellery and made to feel my rings are worthless. I 100% regret taking my jewellery to this store and now will have to find another jeweller to repair the damage to both at a large cost to myself. This should not have happened and no, the customer is not at fault in any way.
