Bought a small thumb piece of ginger, $23.99 per kg. Was charged $9.66 !! Asked the cashier ( apparently was the boss of the shop) why was it nearly $10 for a small piece of ginger. Instead he told me off in his own words’ why you people complain, of course everything is expensive! Do you still want it? Taken aback by his crudeness and rudeness. I said it’s overcharged and there’s a mistake. He then abruptly left without saying anything. Saw him spoke to another cashier and left. The other lady cashier( apparently the manager) was very nice and polite, she recalculated and said I was definitely overcharged for the item as it’s only cost me $1.45! I was very annoyed with the so called boss and insisted an apology. The manager was very apologetic but said the boss had just gone for his lunch. Apparently he was afraid I’m going to complain about his attitude and dishonesty. By the way his name is Patel, an Indian looking middle aged man. Customers beware of him if you happened to shop there and when he is at the cashier counter! Check your receipt records to make sure you are not overcharged for your purchase.

January 2026. Cheeky price tactics on watermelon. At 3 pm it was sign posted at $1.99 a kilo. Twenty minutes later a new sign posted watermelon at $2.89 a kilo. At 5 pm a new sign posted at $3.99 a kilo. Taking advantage of people doing their final shopping before closing time. Two doors away the price of watermelon at the other green grocer was stable at $1.99 a kilo.

I bought white peaches from this fruit shop thinking they’re cheap and look fresh only to find that they only look fresh and firm outside but rotten inside. Wasted my money. I’d rather buy expensive white peaches from Woolies or Coles, at least they’re fresh for sure.

Would give a negative mark if I could. Bought 2 bunches of coriander yesterday. Paid to get a plastic bag as I had my hands full holding other shopping. The person serving me literally threw my purchase and the plastic bag on the counter and was done with me. On asking if they could put in bag for me I was completely ignored and had to struggle to put purchase in bag. Pathetic service ....it was the staff wearing white cloth mask.

I would give zero!!!!! My friend fell down due to stepping onto some liquidy substance on the floor in front of the store. It was 6.15pm, there were carts with boxes nearby when she fell off as the store was packing up for the day. We called the staff, without saying a word, she bluntly responded "yeah we will clean it up" while headed to serve a customer, without even apologising to my friend. It was obvious that she witnessed the incident. Very bad experience!

TERRIBLE PRODUCTS Glen Waverley Colonial FreshWent today, and we purchased 3kg worth of extremely expensive grapes at $25 dollars a kilo, expecting the "highest quality" produce. Campe back note even thirty seconds after after inspecting one bag, the grapes were bruised and squished. Went to the register to get a refund, refused a refund due to their policy which was written in tiny fonts, almost needed a magnifying glass to read the so called policy. After explaining to them that the grapes were bruised, we actually needed to show the cashier we had purchased from not even a minute before that they were terrible quality, the staff got mad at us. It's iffy to even give Colonial "Fresh" one star, if there was a 0 star option that would be the one I would have selected. Don't go here, the produce ISN'T fresh, and the customer apparently isn't always right. 0 star experience.

Just wanted to say thank you so much again to the Glen Colonial Fresh employee I saw yesterday on Friday 28/11/2025 for being so nice and helpful in answering my question about the absolute amazing selection of such a wide variety of ready to eat Brunetti cakes they have stored in full view in two glass door freezer units positioned on the left side of the wide front entrance. Thank you so much to her too for providing me with additional information about the Brunetti cakes too that are the exact same ones you would find at dedicated Brunetti cafes. I am so grateful to her for all that. For reference, she was South Asian, possibly Indian, in appearance and wearing glasses with her black hair tied back in a ponytail. So sorry to both her and Glen Colonial Fresh, been meaning to type up and post this 5-star Google review at least 24 hours ago but I promise I am nothing less than 100% appreciative for all her help. The prices of the aforementioned Brunetti cakes are $54 for a Standard one and $57 for a Premium one. I intend to buy my friend/godfather Peter a Premium Brunetti cake from Colonial Fresh next week for his 70th birthday. I asked the aforementioned employee if the $57 price for a Premium Brunetti cake included a carry box and she not only so helpfully conformed it but she also said since any Brunetti cake a customer buys will be frozen, it is best to let 3 to 4 hours pass buy after purchasing before it is eaten. Thanks a lot again to her, she deserves every reward and acknowledgement from Colonial Fresh. As you can see in all the photos I took, there is such a wide variety of Brunetti cakes at Glen Colonial Fresh that all look absolutely stunning and colourful with such elegance finishing touches with such amazing flavours and textures as I can attest to having had Brunetti's cakes from dedicated Brunetti's cafes in the past. I very highly recommend the Brunetti's cakes; $54 or $57 for each one is worth it for the very high quality they are, befitting of any special occasion including my friend/godfather Peter's upcoming 70th birthday. I am so sorry to all past and present Colonial Fresh staff members for never having previously put up a 5-star Google review in the past, but I promise both my friend/godfather Peter and I are nothing less than 100% grateful to each and every one of them for both all the first rate produce and food items and first rate friendly service we have received from them these last almost 6 years including yesterday on Friday 28/11/2025. A wide variety of fruits and vegetables both so fresh and priced competitively are available along with such a diverse array of imported food items from both the various Asian and European countries are available as well, all also competitively priced. At one point they even sold pre-packaged Fresh coconut water. So including the aforementioned employee I spoke to yesterday on Friday 28/11/2025, both Peter and I would like to thank so much each and every past and present staff member of Glejln Colonial Fresh for absolutely everything, they all deserve every reward and acknowledgement Colonial Fresh can offer them. So for the absolute best cakes for special occasions and for the absolute best fresh produce and specially imported food ingredients and items you could ask for, both Peter and I very highly recommend Glen Colonial Fresh, they are a food and cake lovers paradise!
