Five 3 Five

My family stayed in Unit 2 last weekend and to say the place was great is an understatement! The unit was exceptionally clean, comfortable and very spacious and the location is fab! The rooms are nicely renovated and the beds and pillows are very comfortable. The kitchen is a little squeezy however it had everything we needed for our stay. Jayesh & Lisa were extremely helpful from booking through to check out. Thank you for our stay!

Clean and comfortable. Be prepared for a very different arrangement of rooms, as this is a converted barracks, so a series of 12'x12' rooms along a corridor, which is private, but outdoors. The kitchen is well-equipped, the large TV is in a separate room with two comfy couches, the toilet and separate shower & sink rooms are at the end of the hall. There is a lovely semi-private garden area with an outdoor table. The ceilings are not sound-insulated and we were treated to the sound of unsupervised children bouncing around, chatting and giggling until well after midnight. An upper unit would, no doubt, have been quieter. This location, across from a large and beautiful park along the ocean-front, is really nice. We were delighted to be awakened by the sound of myriad birds chirping and calling to greet the dawn!

Incredibly amazing value! My wife, 2 teenage girls, 2yr old son and my sister found the apartment to be very nice and spacious and better equipped than other apartments we've stayed especially in the kitchen department. The hospitality was fantastic and the included extras were brilliant. Free use of kayaks or canoes, paddle boat life vests, bikes incl helmets, fishing gear, washing machines and for the technos great wifi which was again free. It's the only holiday place i engender staying where it didn't just feel like a place I was sleeping. The location was brilliant being across from the beach with a small pier and in short walking/rising distance of a lot of nice places and eating venues. Highly recommend to anyone and will be staying again in the future.

Lovely place. Nice vibe, clean and tidy. Only disappointed that we were in town for a funeral and didn't get the opportunity to enjoy the large open porch. There's enough tea, coffee and little UTH milks on site to make a cuppa when you arrive.

My family has stayed at the Barracks several times over the last 5 years but we will not be back again. The lack of maintenance, particularly on the outside areas really put a cloud over our holiday. The bikes stated on the web page are all wrecked and unusable. All the equipment mentioned in the advertising is filthy and broken that's if you are game to go into the filthy shed full of spiders. Everything outside was filthy or broken, clotheslines...no pegs, BBQ, pizza oven. Nails protruding on the verandah, not good with a 11 month old crawling around. The outside walls all dirty and mouldy. Front garden extremely overgrown had to hack our way through to the front gate. Also lots of prickles around the gate. Very sad to see this beautiful building deteriorating due to lack of maintenance. Won't be back.

Underwhelmed Although kinda quirky and great location, the asking price over the long weekend was close to extortion. I then googled the definition of "barracks" Yup it lived up to the description but definitely not worth the money in peak period. In the Ground level "digs" you had better hope for light walkers and early retirees in the upper levels ! Some cleaning finesse could be used especially in the cobweb and under furniture department. It’s a meh from me

Amazing little beach getaway with quirky charm. The owners were friendly and accommodating with great recommendations for food and dining. A top destination to stay while in Hervey bay. 10/10
