Horrible first time experience. We politely asked for tongs to inspect the fish we were wanting to purchase. The staff worker seemed almost offended by this question and made sarcastic remarks under her breathe with the other staff member rudely reminding us we weren’t in Brisbane. That interaction alone will be enough for me never to purchase or recommend this business to anyone in Toowoomba.
Sushi platter 10/10 Fresh Ocean King prawns - Delish and crisp, love that! Smoked salmon terrine - amaze balls! I was served by two very helpful staff, young Kynan who was super speedy in packing my order and lovely Leanne who helped me checkout. Stoney’s Fresh Seafood is second to none!
I sent my son to Stoney’s on Christmas Eve to buy 3 kg of prawns and a modest amount of seafood sauce. I was disappointed, but not surprised, to find that this cost $180. While I’m not exactly sure what the sauce cost, I’m estimating that the prawns were around $55 a kilogram. This is absolutely ridiculous and nothing more than blatant gouging. I saw decent looking prawns the day before at Coles that were $28 a kilo. Oh well I thought ‘ At least we’ll have beautiful prawns for Christmas day!. I was let down there as well! They were probably the worst (and obviously dearest) prawns I’ve ever had the misfortune to buy. They were soft, wouldn’t peel properly and the family, who really are seafood lovers, left over half of them to end up in the freezer and then most probably the bin. Stony’s the Fishmonger should be ashamed of taking advantage of families at this time of year and charging such an outrageous price for subpar prawns. All in the name of a quick profit. I hope the rest of the seafood that people purchased wasn’t as bad. Out of principal I’ll never ever purchase anything from Stony’s again. I’m bitterly disappointed and saddened that a local business would wilfully do something as unethical as this.
Previously over a year a go I enjoyed some delicious fish and chips from Stoney the fishmongers in Toowoomba so decided when we felt like fish and chips before our movie last night we would go again. Very disappointed in the feed for 2 that we purchased it was over cooked tasted terrible. Asked for chicken salt and lemon got neither. Spoke with them however unless we took it back to the store they were not interested. No way was I holding onto it to smell my car out. Through the night my husband became very unwell from the dinner we had tried to enjoy. Very poor
Girlfriend and I attempted to put in our order of seafood for Christmas at the store. Asked two of the younger staff if we could do so, they looked puzzled and took 10 minutes to get the manager. The manager came out and told us to place it online instead. Terrible customer service, what is the point of having a brick and mortar store if you just want to be an online service.
The size of my $15 lunch meal today with a pen beside for reference. Plus the flake meat was half brown and soggy. Did not enjoy!
Lovely fish and calamari. I had battered mackerel, fresh and delicious. Nice firm flesh with crunchy batter. Crumbed calamari and tartar sauce. Lovely flat white. Friendly and fast service. Highly recommend.
