George Banks Rooftop Bar & Bistro

Hubby and I went here for valentine's dinner last night and the set menu was amazing. The food was next level, flavours galore. The only slight issue was the fat on the black Angus strip sirloin was too hard to eat. Dessert was delicious. We will be back one weekend to try the menu

Food was yum. Steak was cooked perfectly and the pasta was nice. Pork belly starter was delicious as well. View at night was also lovely

We came here about a month ago for an 18th birthday and the venue itself was lovely. The food was great, the canapés were plentiful, well presented and genuinely delicious. You could tell they were freshly made and thoughtfully done. Unfortunately, the cocktails were a big let-down, especially for the price point. At $24 each, I expected a well-made classic cocktail. I ordered a mojito and was told it had been made with Malibu instead of white rum, which already isn’t a classic mojito. I tried it, as I didn’t want it to be wasted, but it was undrinkable, so it was remade. The second one was even worse. The lime juice tasted pre-bottled and extremely overpowering, honestly, it felt like half the glass was just lime juice. It burned going down and wasn’t enjoyable at all. I ordered another drink from a different bar tender, hoping for a better result, but had the same issue again. In the end, around $50 was spent on cocktails I couldn’t drink, which was really disappointing given the setting and reputation of the venue. The food and atmosphere were great, but the bar service and cocktail quality really let the experience down.

10/10. Went here for my birthday and absolutely loved it. Staff are friendly and professional, the wait time on drinks and food wasn't very long and oh em gee was the food absolutely amazing!! Will absolutely dine here again

George Banks Rooftop Bar is an absolute gem. From the moment you step out onto the rooftop, the atmosphere is immaculate—stylish, relaxed, and buzzing without feeling overwhelming. The views alone are worth the visit, but the drinks really seal the deal. Creative cocktails, quality spirits, and everything is perfectly balanced and beautifully presented. The staff are friendly, attentive, and genuinely make you feel welcome, which elevates the whole experience. It’s the kind of place that works just as well for a laid-back sunset drink as it does for a lively night out with friends. Great music, great energy, and consistently high standards all around. Great atmosphere and fantastic service. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely made the experience enjoyable. The food and cocktails were amazing. They had run out of raspberries, but the manager on duty actually went out to get more so we could try the Ice Vovo cocktail — such impressive service. Highly recommend.

The service is a bit average. Given the cost of the meals and drinks you'd expect a waitress to pour your (expensive) glass of wine from the bottle they just delivered rather than crack it open then dump it and walk away. I advised the waitress the strip sirloin was VERY average and her response of "sorry to hear that" was a bit of a let-down. The risotto with prawns and the lamb shoulder were both great meals. The standard of the cocktails and spirits was not great. I get that the business exists to make money but why would you serve cocktails that taste like softdrinks and in a schooner glass full of ice? It was made obvious when the staff wanted us gone..the background music increased volume substantially before 10pm. The waitstaff appeared young and inexperienced. Not keen to head back.
