recently had dinner at 168 Green Cabin in Narre Warren and was really impressed. The restaurant is modern and clean, but the atmosphere still feels warm and genuine—you get that inviting aroma of authentic spices right when you walk in. The service was excellent; staff were friendly and clearly passionate about their food. The menu is full of classics, and everything we ordered was spot-on. The Pepper Pork Curry was the absolute standout. The pork was slow-cooked and incredibly tender, melting into a dark, complex, and intensely flavourful gravy that had a perfect, warming pepper kick. Definitely get their fresh String Hoppers to soak up that sauce. We also loved the Chicken Kottu Roti. You can hear them chopping it in the kitchen, and it came out steamy, hearty, and perfectly seasoned. It’s a great, satisfying street-food dish. Finally, you can't skip the Egg Hoppers (Appa); they have beautifully lacy, crispy edges, and paired with a little seeni sambol, they add a fantastic traditional element to the meal. If you’re craving high-quality, authentic Sri Lankan cuisine in Melbourne's southeast, 168 Green Cabin is a solid recommendation.

I finally made it down to 168 Green Cabin in Narre Warren, and it's quickly become my new favourite spot for authentic Sri Lankan comfort food. Unlike many places, they really nail the feel of the cooking—it’s honest, hearty, and full of flavour. I went on a busy Friday night, and the place was humming, but the service team handled it perfectly. Everyone was smiling and attentive, making sure water glasses were full and orders were running smoothly. For appetizers, we dove into the Short Eats. The Fish Cutlets were the perfect start—crispy outside, warm and well-spiced fish filling inside. They're dangerously addictive and a great way to kick off the meal. For the main course, we ordered the Mutton Curry, and it was truly outstanding. The meat was tender and rich, simmered in a thick gravy that balanced chili heat with deep aromatic spices. It had that classic, robust flavour profile you hope for in a slow-cooked curry. We ate it with their fantastic roti, which was perfect for scooping up every last bit of that sauce. We also got the Parippu (Dahl) Curry as a side, and it was flawlessly creamy and mild, acting as a perfect balance to the spicier mains. It’s simple, but sometimes the simple things show the true quality of the kitchen. If you’re local to the southeast and want a great meal that feels homemade and satisfying, 168 Green Cabin is definitely the place to go. They clearly put a lot of care into what they do.
