Went for the first time after my partner booked it for Valentines Day 💘 What a wonderful experience. Firstly the service was so welcoming, attentive and friendly. The set menu was incredible and great serving sizes, the catering for vegetarian diet was done really well! The venue had a nice vibe, was not too loud and somehow still felt intimate despite being booked out. A lovely Valentines, Thankyou Black Sheep.
Pan-seared duck was a standout — perfectly rendered skin, evenly cooked breast, and no gamey aftertaste. The sauce was well-balanced and complemented the richness without overpowering it. Dishes arrived steaming hot, which is always appreciated. The gin selection is strong, and the cocktails were well-executed. Staff were attentive without hovering, and service pacing struck the right balance — present but not intrusive. The ambience deserves mention. Lighting was thoughtfully set — warm enough to create atmosphere, yet bright enough to properly see and enjoy the food without feeling drowsy. With the 15% member discount, pricing felt reasonable relative to the quality delivered. The only disappointment was the seafood linguine. The sauce was watery, the seafood lacked the freshness expected at this level, and the flavour profile didn’t have the depth typically associated with a well-constructed seafood pasta. Overall, a very solid experience with one dish that fell short.
We went for a Saturday afternoon Gin High Tea. At $79 per person it is fantastic value for money. A double tier stand of sweet and savoury, and a grazing board. Drinks were cocktails from the menu. Whilst the first round took a long time to come up we certainly made up for it in our 2 hour sitting managing to order 4 cocktails each. Everything was so delicious- can’t wait to go back.
The portion of food is quite small, and the roasted pork is dry and hard. Other than these, everything’s perfect. Love the staff and the environment. We had a wonderful night out there.
Had a wonderful dining experience! The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and full of character. While the service started a bit slow, it quickly picked up, and we ended up having a fantastic time. The gin tasting menu is a standout; each gin comes with a thoughtful description that adds to the experience. The atmosphere is cosy and inviting. Definitely looking forward to returning!
I cannot remember a time when I sprinted home from a restaurant to leave a review! We absolutely loved BLACK SHEEP GEELONG!🌟. From the jump, the venue is intimate and lovely. The staff are incredibly good at their jobs, they really know the menu. Meals (garlic pizza, pumpkin risotto and the Barramundi) were absolutely delicious and plentiful. Thanks so much to the Chefs and wait staff for such a wonderful experience. We can’t wait to return to try the Osso Bucco next time. 💫✨💫✨
We recently dined at Black Sheep and felt the experience fell short given the restaurant’s reputation. While the waitress was friendly, the service felt quite casual for a premium venue. Wine was served without presentation, glasses had visible fingerprints, and an entrée of chips and halloumi was served after the waitress accidentally spilled the chips, with the dish not corrected. After spending over $350, both the service and food quality were average. Overall, it was a noticeable drop from our visit around 10 months ago.
