Cattle country so had to go for steak, I had the scotch fillet cooked medium, it was slightly less that medium but tasted great, there was a large portion of roast potatoes and veggies. All cooked perfectly. Staff were very tentative.
Visiting Dubbo for work and stayed at the Cattleman’s Hotel. Fantastic room and enjoyed dining at the restaurant very much. They have a beautiful gas fireplace in the bar area and, even though I had not booked and they were very busy on a Monday night, I didn’t wait too long for a table. I enjoyed a steak and sticky date pudding for dessert. Staff were exceptional - especially Khorshed at reception. Would highly recommend eating here and will make sure I book a table next time.
Rooms are great but a bit of a walk nonetheless great value, the bar and Resturant for a country establishment is excellent. New York strip is 8/10 the service in the Resturant is better than you would find in Brisbane or Newcastle as a guide. The bar should be open Earlier though 530 to late needs to be open for travellers. Alll in all a great place to visit rest and feed. The manager of the restaurant is excellent going to try breakfast on Sunday morning and meet his brother.
I cant really say there's an atmosphere because when I usually visit it's on a week night with not too many other people there but I can give the place five stars for its food. I ALWAYS have the steak - and why wouldnt you - its renowned for its steak as the name suggests. Cooked perfectly, tasty as any steak Ive ever had and with nice vegies to go with it. The biggest steak is the one pictured here and I struggled but got through it. The staff deserve a mention. Usually they are French backpackers and they are very attentive and friendlt, always stopping to have a chat about their visit to Australia and their homeland. Oh, and the drinks are not expensive as they have a happy hour that brings a glass of red down to a very reasonable price. When in Dubbo, stay here and visit their restautrant.
Great atmosphere and very kind and attentive staff. The scotch fillet was cooked perfectly as I like it (ordered medium rare) the mash and veg cooked spot on slight crunch and well seasoned mash. Only one tiny detail would be a bit more seasoning on the steak prawns and everything else was excellent. Give stars as it was cooked perfectly. The little biscuits were a very nice touch after the meal.
Incredible. I’ve been staying here at the motel and gone 2 nights. First night was the Lamb and holy shit… it was incredible I had 2 shanks but honestly wish I could’ve had 4 (pricy). Second night was the special, pepper lamb pot pie and again incredible. Presented a little strange and didn’t have any vegetables so I had to add my sides in. But overall incredible service and incredible food. Honestly I recommend this to everyone.
Asked at reception, if a booking was required for happy hour at the restaurant and was told yes. So I placed a booking. I arrived during happy hour and was seated in the restaurant at a table, I proceeded to tell the maitre'd we were there for happy hour, must have been ignored, or seating at tables is normal. Decided to get some desert, we ate dinner elsewhere thankfully and when we placed the order we were asked asked to move from table. As we were not eating a main meal to free up the table. At the time we were one of 3 tables being used for eating food, in a venue of 20+ tables. So we moved to the bar and finish the one drink we had already ordered. Obviously our sort (the desert only crowd) was not acceptable for for the packed out restaurant (15+ tables available). Upon leaving the same team member of the restaurant then harassed us for a positive review. So as I promised here is my honest review of our time in that restaurant. So we retired back to our room as the whole experience had made it unhappy hour. My advice is to get Kebabs from across the road and beers from reception. Hotel concierge staff are much more friendly and inclusive.
