Customer Reviews
SPICE MIX- Indian, Nepalese & Halal Restaurant Melbourne has a rating of 4.7 out of 5 based on over 1012 reviews on Google
We had ordered a take away from this restaurant. One of the fellow staff was hyping a lot about the food saying we don’t use any colors etc, but it was all false. We had ordered hariyali chicken and it was literally made by adding a lot of colors. Every other dish we had ordered like jhol momo, fish pakora, chicken pepper cream, aloo palak, chowmien was just average and the butter rotis we under cooked. Every other dish could’ve been better compared to Melbourne Indian food standards.
Ordered a half and half and got 95% rice? EDIT: I want to be clear. I obviously was not expecting a full curry. I go to many places and order this: half rice, half curry. Everywhere else knows how to portion. I wasn't asking for a giant bowl, just what you advertised. But what I received was not "250ml" - clearly seen in the box as PICTURED with 2 small pieces of tough lamb. This aggressive response from the restaurant is wild to me. You are advertising half a curry to accompany half rice and this is clearly not that. I got 2 mouthfulls of curry to an ungodly amount of rice. What you served in this small quantity for $15 I think would have turned you more profit than me getting a standard curry at your $17 price point in regards to ingredients quantity. EDIT 2: I don't review much at all so you should know it takes a lot for me. Your customers will see the truth from the pictures. Live your life, man. I just wanted to be fed and assumed you were an honest business like the other Indian places where I got this exact order with a reasonable amount of curry.
When we moved to the area, we were so thrilled to find Spice Mix. My 5 yo loves butter chicken and my 10 yo can't get enough of their palak paneer. (It's best in the area ... According to him!) And of course the entire family loves their mango lassi!! You can't go wrong with this place!
Me and my friend went for dinner today and had such a great time. We started with momo and chicken 65 for entrees both were packed with rich, bold flavors. For mains, we had the jackfruit curry and goat curry, and both were perfectly spiced and absolutely delicious. The owner was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and he mentioned that they’ll be adding many exciting new specials to the menu soon. Definitely coming back.
Love this place. Last night I got takeaway with friends and we got Dahl Makani, lamb korma, tandoori chicken, onion bhaji entree and rice and bread. All were so good, korma was a stand out! The menu is very long, it's a bit overwhelming, but don't be put off. All the food here is incredible and very well priced, it only ended being about $26 each for multiple dishes to share. Have eaten in here before too and it's a casual, sweet local vibe.
Up there with the best Indian food in Melbourne. Sure, it’s a no frills kind of decor but what does that matter when you’ve got great flavours and friendly service. Super reasonably priced and good portion sizes. Don’t miss the onion bhaji!
Experience absolutely amazing. The food is the best food we had in Melbourne. Everything made fresh, very accomodating with our dietary requests. Very kind, and honestly the best Indian restaurant we have ever tried. We 100% recommend and we support this business with our hearts. Will be back
