The Fab Curry & Hoppers

I am quite disappointed overall. We visited after watching their social media on lunch buffet only to be told that they are not currently running it! Even the window has the same advert. The store looks like it needs thorough cleaning and revamping. The food is quite average and gave me an upset stomach afterwards. I will admit that their portions are very justifiable for the price, but lacks that yum factor that will make someone go back again. Considering the competition elsewhere, I truly hope the owner can turn the business around to keep it running in the long term.

I ordered 8 portions of Chicken Buriani 24hrs. proir to pick up. The order was ready to go when I got there. The food was for Christmas lunch and was absolutely fantastic! It came with a brilliant Mint sambal and a Malay pickle. Everyone enjoyed the food, saying it ws one of the best they've had. Thank you for taking my order at such late notice.

Went this Saturday evening foe the Buffet. We were mostly interested in the Hoppers but we're told that was included in the buffet. Thoroughly enjoyed the curries and the Hoppers which were simply the best. Would have like the Hoppers to come out of the kitchen hot but alas that was not so. The lady who served us was extremely friendly and polite. My only critique is that there should be an extractor fan somewhere because we came away with our clothes and hair infused with the aromas of the Cafe.

Delicious, authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. All you can eat lunch buffet is amazing value.

Have come here 8+ times since first discovering it. Amazing! The tall young gentleman that serves, is exceptionally friendly and so nice! He has amazing customer service! A surprise find! Visited here by chance on their Sri Lankan buffet night. The reviews are true. The food here is delicious and fresh. The hoppers were coming out fresh one after the other non stop. With a selection of 2 meat curry dishes and 2 vegetarian curry dishes, 2 different styles of rice, a selection of chutneys, some fruit and desert, this is definitely worth a visit and is also very well priced!

Extremely disappointed with the service. When we placed the order, we were told it would take 15–20 minutes, which we were fine with. However, it took almost an hour (54 minutes), and all we received was just a simple "sorry". This has been the most unpleasant experience we’ve had at a Sri Lankan restaurant in Melbourne so far, both in terms of service and atmosphere.

Dropped by this spot for lunch with my family, and when we arrived, there was only one other table occupied, so it was a pretty quiet time. We tried the hoppers, which were the main reason we came. Positives: Great Value for Money: This was definitely a highlight. For the portion size and what we received, the pricing was more than fair — I’d easily give this 5 stars for value alone. Friendly Service: The lady who served us was absolutely lovely — warm, polite, and attentive. She mentioned she was new, which would probably explain the service Negatives: This was the biggest let down. The hoppers came out cold — and not just the first batch. We received about 10 hoppers in total, delivered in two rounds. Unfortunately, both sets were cold upon arrival. It wasn’t just the hoppers. The accompanying curries were also cold, which really affected the overall experience. When food arrives cold during a quiet service period, it’s hard to understand why. Disjointed Service: The dishes came out in a very staggered manner — a few items here, a few more much later. It felt uncoordinated, and by the time everything was on the table, nothing was at an ideal temperature to enjoy. Spice Level: It’s clear the spice levels have been toned down to suit the Aussie palate. Overall: While the value and service were commendable, the cold food and inconsistent serving times really took away from the experience. There’s definitely potential here, especially with such kind staff and good prices — but attention needs to be given to kitchen timing and food temperature to make the most of it. Normally I would probably give this place 2 to 3 stars but my mum and cousin really enjoyed the food even though it was cold hence the 4 stars
