UNWIND on symmons

Awful. DO NOT EAT HERE. Burger patty was burnt and dry. Pasta was all stuck together. Waitress didn't know the difference between a Riesling and a Chardonnay. Looks like change of ownership, now run by people who don't know how to cook modern Australian. We used to come here years ago and the food was amazing. Now it's just awful. Don't eat here.

This review is based on my reception and first impressions, and I can tell you, I am not impressed, I was greeted with, "There is an hour + wait for food, so if you can't wait you can pop out and find somewhere else" The only reason I'm staying that is I'm here on business, and work is covering all my expenses. I ordered the On The Bone Rib Steak with mushroom sauce. Let's see how that goes. For $72 (69+3 for the sauce), the steak was substandard, and the presentation was....Just look at it.

Beautiful and relaxing ambience. There was only one lady last Saturday evening that’s serving and she is absolutely a champ. Very friendly and helpful. Food was very good and overall experience is great.

If I could give Unwind zero stars, I would — and even that would be too kind. We were the only table in the restaurant — and still experienced one of the most disgraceful dining experiences imaginable. We ordered entrees and mains, and after waiting an hour and a half, the mains came out before the entrees. How is that even possible with no other customers? By the time the starters showed up, I was halfway through my main. We ended up taking them home because no one cared to eat them at that point. Multiple meals were wrong, the staff were disorganised and clueless, and the whole service was a complete shambles. The worst part? The kids were served last. They were hungry, crying, and exhausted. No apology. No explanation. Just a bunch of staff stumbling around with no idea what they were doing. Let’s be real — the only reason Unwind is still open is because it’s tied to the hotel. If it had to survive on its own, it would’ve shut down a long time ago. And it should. Avoid this place at all costs. It’s a disgrace to hospitality, and they should be ashamed to call themselves a restaurant.

To preface I'd like to say that the waitress with the glasses was polite and attentive. Now to all the issues, firstly our orders were stuffed up a few times, both food and drink. Which was surprising since the waitress called back our orders correctly. Someone on our table ordered a little creatures and got a coopers, even though Coopers is not on the menu, haha. A couple of people's drink were forgotten. I ordered a cheeseburger and they gave me the wrong burger. I also ordered a side of tomato sauce and got a side of aioli instead. The staff offered to fix my order but I didn't want to wait longer since everyone had their food. My girlfriend had the calamari, I tried one. I would have to say, and I dont say this lightly, it was the worst calamari I've ever had in my life. The calamari from the supermarket is undoubtedly better. For the price, the small portion wouldn't have mattered if it was good. It was greasy and had no flavour. She passed it to someone else who ate it anyway and I gave her half of my burger instead. A lot of money was spent here that really should've gone to a more deserving business. They don't have many good reviews for a reason, if they want to stay competitive they'll need to re-train their staff.

Had garlic prawns very bland I make better at home, partner had pork belly with chips and a chilly sauce which she was very happy with. Good value meal at 18 dollars and staff very polite and obliging. Will try again as it's a pleasant setting and certainly not overly busy.

Overall poor quality - My filet Mignon was ordered medium- rare and served very well done. Partner had ribs which were average at best. No table service at all - plates not cleared etc. The cost of the meal is massively overcharged for the standard that was served.
