Lightfall Cranbourne

Review Date: 17/04/2025 I recently attended the Lightfall session and would describe it as a delightful family-friendly event. The staff on-site were both friendly and helpful, creating a welcoming and organized atmosphere throughout the venue. While the food truck offerings were slightly on the pricier side, the quality and taste of the food made it worthwhile. As for the main attraction—the lighting installations—they were impressive and unique, offering an experience quite distinct from typical city displays. The event was truly a visual treat, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an immersive and memorable outing. My personal highlights were the Moon and the Lotus installations—both captivating and beautifully executed. It's definitely worth a visit!

It was a fun experience, a bit short but still enjoyable. Activities like this are great for the locals who might not be able to go to the city’s Lightscape one. The organisers really thought about parking and how people will be able to get to the event if parking was too far. Bus were provided for everyone who was parking slightly out of the way and was also brought back to the parking by bus. Waiting for the bus didn’t take long b at all! The whole park is wheelchair friendly! For next time definitely have more food option, but I do understand might not have space for more food trucks.

Underwhelming and not worth the trouble. Seems like they sold more tickets than spaces for cars at the event . We love the gardens on a regular day and we were expecting a lot more. The event was poorly organized for large crowds, the parking was a disaster. The overflow parking had no ushers or organisation whatsoever so when people ran out of parking spaces, everyone just made their own parking spots. Then the long wait for buses to take us there. At the gardens, it started off beautiful but we were done under 30 minutes, aside from the small forest of trees, the line of trees and the flowers, there wasn't much. The end trail was barely lit up. They could have done more. The only reason it was enjoyable was because we went with another family to share the experience. Essentially we spent more time getting from and to the parking and waiting for buses. Overall, underwhelming and not worth the cost or time. Needs more effort and better organization.

It was a great first year for the show. A lot of improvements could be made to bring it up to the standard of lightscape. Considering they are the same organisation, more cross collaboration could have taken place. A longer path of installations through the garden is needed. Paying for parking is understandable, they have limited space and the method they have used ensures there is enough parking for everyone. Hopefully, they will take on the feedback and make it even better next year. It is worth going and supporting to help these events thrive in our community. I love this garden and it was great to have a different experience in it. Well done, team!

Absolute waste of money. $10 for parking was an absolute rip off. I live a usual 5 minute drive from the gardens, but took longer due to the traffic. I walked very slowly, stopped to take a few photos and even the whole movement stopped when a bandicoot decided to stop in the middle of the path for a bit. The music was too loud. There was so much opportunity for the lights to be better and just not done to its full potential. I drove back in my driveway in an hour. Very underwhelmed.

We went to Lightfall Cranbourne tonight as a family for our first ever light show experience—and it was magical. The ticket confirmation text gave clear directions earlier in the day, which made getting there easy. The 6:15pm session was perfect—starting at sunset and ending in the dark, with a full moon creating a stunning visual journey. We especially appreciated the thoughtful blend of Aboriginal culture with the illuminated garden trail. It was a therapeutic, calming walk that felt deeply connected to both nature and heritage. You could really see the effort and care that went into every element of the experience. Such a beautiful reminder to slow down and take in the simple things—culture, nature, and quality time together. We’re already looking forward to seeing how it grows next year. Highly recommend for families who don’t have high expectations and anyone needing a moment of magic!

This light "display" might be impressive if you've never been to a light show before, or for those who are unfamiliar with the concept of electricity. The parking attendants' glowing directional sticks were more impressive than some of the displays. This event could have been so much more, but was unfortunately very underwhelming and not worth the admission and car parking price.
