The café has a lovely atmosphere — very quiet and relaxing, with only one other table when we visited. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing. We ordered a bacon and egg roll and a toasted ham and cheese croissant (which was already prepared and only needed to be reheated). We did not order any drinks. After about 10 minutes, we received the bacon and egg roll, but the croissant never arrived. After waiting another 5 minutes, I asked a staff member about the croissant because my husband had already finished his meal. There was no apology — I was simply told it would be brought out. After waiting a bit longer, I walked over and saw the croissant still sitting in the toaster, which made it clear it had been forgotten. When it was finally served, there was still no apology or acknowledgement of the delay. The food itself was ok but the lack of communication and basic customer service really let the experience down. A simple apology would have made a big difference.

Disappointing that after asking for hard boiled eggs, that after two tries still ended up runny. Great location, friendly staff and food was generally good - however how the team approached the issue with the eggs left us wondering why wasn’t it hard?

I admit I am a bit of a brekky wrap snob. My go to all around the world from Paris, US , and all around Australia. After my first visit to Peckish Penguin I only had one request lol and that was to toast it. Without hesitation I can say this incredible wrap is like a full breakfast No matter what your preference there are no added extras needed at a cost. Seriously I cannot say the best brekky wrap in Coffs but the best discovery in all my travel adventures. Peckish Penguin is far more than a great Coffee and the Champion brekky wrap. My two fur babies are welcomed by the awesome staff . They get excited (my fur babies) knowing they can have a homemade doggie treat from the staff. In short not just any breakfast , but an outing for all ,right beside the river.

This is the warmest and friendliest cafe. It is often filled with older folk as well as disability groups. I can see why. I was there today with my Pop (82 and hard of hearing) and my young daughter 3. The staff are efficient yet calm and friendly. They were extremely patient with my Pop and helpful to my young daughter. I was so impressed by the warmth and care of the staff. Highly recommend

I had the pleasure of meeting a friend and have the half serve breakie yesterday. This is such a great idea for us (older) as was still a very generous serve but not too much. The bacon was amazing, egg perfect and sour dough not hard to cut through. Was all so delicious and great value for money… coffee great as well. Presentation was lovely also. Thanks for offering this great service in a relaxed environment.

Very nice cafe attached to the Sanctuary. They have a covered terrace where the local birds will visit your table trying to get your food, they are not aggressive just not afraid of humans 🙂 The pancakes are very good.
