Montgomery St Café in Kogarah stands out as a beloved local spot, offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere with a focus on high-quality, hearty dishes. The café is renowned for its exceptional schnitzel, consistently praised for its crisp, golden perfection, and other standout items like flaky sausage rolls. It’s a great little café with delicious food. The chicken schnitzel was fried to perfection. It was very delicious and I would definitely order it again. There is seating on the bottom floor, but also there is seating on the second floor. I came back the next day and had a sausage roll which was warmed up and flaky on the outside and juicy on the inside. I came back and got the schnitzel again, but this time I asked for a second schnitzel. Both were fried to perfection and quite delicious. I am back in Australia again. First thing I did was come here for lunch. And ordered the schnitzel, but I forgot to ask her two.
Stumbled across this place one day, and now it’s become my weekly cafe spot. The staff are super friendly and welcoming, the food’s always tasty, and the coffee hits the mark every time. Definitely worth a visit, such a great family run cafe to support!
The Asian lady handing out the coffee is absolutely disrespectful and rude, unable to properly take care of a customer’s order. She chatted away with someone while dropping my coffee into a takeaway holder, but instead of carefully placing it down, she proceeded to stab the coffee a few times onto the takeaway holder without looking and spilled some all over the counter. With no remorse, she said bye and continued chatting. I thought this was a lovely cafe and I’ve come here numerous times, but this lady has made me dislike this cafe entirely. The young man at the counter is so much more wonderful than her. Please tell her to change her attitude.
Our family are regular customers of this café. We ordered brunch and two coffees. Normally, the coffee comes with a tiny biscuit. My husband just asked for one extra biscuit when he ordered another takeaway coffee. The young guy at the counter said, "Sorry, we can’t give you an extra one," which is disappointing considering it costs only a few cents. We are really disappointed with their hospitality and service for the first time. We have never felt this way before.
The food was cooked well and the service was amazing. The server was attentive and made sure my experience was warm and caring. My new go to when I’m in the area
Great little cafe in Kogarah. Service was excellent. Ordered a coffee - Campos beans were nice. Also a Chicken Schnitzel sandwich which was huge. Enough for two. Obviously a favourite of the medical staff from St George hospital. Service was great. Very fast. Highly recommended.
Practically an institution, this cafe has been here forever and serves consistently good food and coffee. It's my go-to when I'm on this side of Kogarah. I love the decoration as well.
